Question about Compaq Armada E500 Notebook
I try booting onto windows and the administrative page wont come on. also tried getting into bios. only screen that comes on is the boot options ie.. safe mode etc. so my question is. Is there a problem with the start up disk. Is there another way to boot through bios. is there a problem with the memory. What is my options for booting my computer. I have a 2000 compaq armada which runs on windows 2000 professional. or Nt.
On boot up hit F8, when the sub menu comes up select "last known good configuration" hopefully that should do the trick.

To be honest, there are quite a few things it could be. Most likely you will have to do a full re-install if you have the disc. It sounds like the system files are corrupted.
If your not too tech savvy, then you'll want to go to a local computer shop to have them retrieve the data from your hard drive. And they would also be able to do a full install.
If you are pretty savvy, you could get a hold of a 2.5" external HDD housing.
Take the drive from your laptop and put it in the housing.
Then connect the housing (now considered an external USB drive) to another computer and browse for your files to back them up.
After that, do a full install with your original disk from Compaq.
If you dont have it, you may have to do a little hunting for W2k and the drivers for your laptop.
If it does it again, then you have a hardware problem.
Let me know if any of this helps.
