Copy comes out folded like an accordion and causes jam

The paper comes out in a multiple fold (accordion) and jams the machine. I have replaced the fuser, and it still occurs.

I cannot find any scraps of paper anywhere, but I could be missing something. I do know that someone ran cardstock through it withoutchanging the settings. If that caused it, is it fixable?

Something is either blocking the path or you have 2 bad fusers.
Make the the bottom roller of both fusers can turn somewhat freely.
While rotating rollers make sure they are clean.
Clean all rollers with alcohol swab.
The fact that cardstock ran through w/o setting change is not an issue.

sounds like your printer wants to form it's own three piece band(kidding here).

sounds like you rollers are dirty or have something on one or both of them..like tires on a slippery road, these need to be clean and dry.

Bad heat roll drive gear in the fuser. Very common problem.
Look up on google a business called "The Parts Drop". Ask for Britt, part is $13 or $14.

SOURCE: HP Laserjet 4M makes accordion folds in the paper before jamming

I have found that with laser printers that have an occasional "crinkle" problem that "fanning" the paper does alleviate the problem ... but it will not if there is an actual feed/hardware problem with the rollers

SOURCE: OKI c3200 Laser Printer...

There are 3 little black and white rollers under the cover on the back of the printer. They are pushed under the upper rollers. They should be on the outside of the upper rollers. Somehow they got wedged under the upper rollers. This should fix the accordian paper jam.

SOURCE: Paper Jam E2 error

On this model, the fuser assembley is mounted to the machine mounts, two of them inboard and outboard.
If the fuser gear is not cracked, this fuser is driven by the white small drive gear on the machine.
This rests close the drive gear. Sometimes you can hear a thumping noise which is coming from the gear skipping over the fuser gear.
This gear needs to be replaced a very involved service process.
Call Xerox for further repair if this is the case. Also behind this gear are many other gears that can cause this same problem. Very involved and time-extensive to repair even for a trained Xerox technition.

The Lexmark x342n all in one printer gives the error code 200.20 i took out the paper jam and tried to print again but it still gives the same fault i also can the drum and tried again but it only...

General tip: If the paper tears when you pull a jam out of the printer, spread the paper out and make sure you have all of the pieces. A small shred left inside can cause another jam.

"I also can the drum" - does this mean you discarded the printer cartridge? I've never seen a cartridge cause a jam. Usually an accordion-fold jam in this area is the result of the fuser rollers not turning or a torn fuser sleeve. A jam without an accordion fold indicates that the paper did not make it into the toner deposition area soon enough - this could be a problem with the pickup roller or the next set of rollers. Worn or dirty rollers can work intermittently before they quit completely.

Also, check the paper detection flag to make sure it isn't hanging up (this is a black plastic tab that sticks into the paper path just before the paper goes under the cartridge, and is pushed up or down by the paper). Look for the U-shaped optical detector that is interrupted by this flag, and make sure it isn't blocked by foreign material.

Why does the paper come out wrinkled from HP Laser jet 3030

Problem: Paper jams as it exits printer, starts out as intermittent and gets progressively worse. Paper has accordion folds at bottom.

Cause: Fuser drives paper out faster than the worn out exit rollers can push it out of the printer. This causes the paper to fold up.

Solution: The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable. If problems persist, the rollers need to be replaced.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Sharp 2300n gets paper jam. It fold paper like an

When you clear the paper from the machine at the fusing unit, you can see 8 pawls, it looks like a hook but in a flat design. They should be touching the heat roller ( each has a spring to make it flexible ). If one not touching the heat roll it will caused the paper stuck to it so you will have the accordion paper jam.

Paper jams when folding 8 1/2 X 11 ivory paper; less often with white. Tech says it's a paper issue - so whose colored paper (brand) will work - or is it a design flaw?

Is this paper the same weight/thickness as the white paper?
Are you specifying the settings properly as far as the weight and type?
It sounds like the sensors are detecting a double feed(?)
Try different settings for the tray, and even try a different brand of stock to verify.

To fix this you need to have the fusing unit looked at... could be various problems causing this , from bad paper to bad rollers?

I am assuming that you have an jammed paper in the back door or an accordion jam in which the paper is all folded up or crinkled. if that is the case the printer needs the output assm replaced (hp part number rg5-0886). which is pretty simple take out screws for top cover remove top cover at rear of machine once cover is off there are two taabs holding assm in place depress tabs rotate assm slighlty and lift out of place reverse process to reinstall takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Could be that it is printing a legal print on letter paper. This causes a timing error which appears as a jam. If it is accordion folding behind the exit rollers the paper could be hanging on the exit sensor flag. If it accordian folds in the fuser then the fuser needs replacing.
