thanks joe. i have been running water hot in sink before i start dishwasher. it was working fine but now its not. i think its the spray arms and will listen out for the water on the door and see how i go. light steam comes out when finished.if spray arms ok is it possible that the dishwasher is not heating water properly?there used to be alot of steam, really hot! is there a heater element that may have gone and temp now is only from hot water?

Make sure the top rack sprayer bar at the back of the dishwasher is not slight bent and entering the hole. If the top rack adjusts height, sometimes it can be bumped out of alignment when you adjust. You can put it in the guide, and it will go in the hole (with rubber cap) in the back of the dishwasher when you push in the top rack. You can pop out the spray arms and make sure they are not blocked.
Finally you might have a build up of deposits on the screen. You can remove and clean. As it won't recycle water adequately. I don't work for Lemi Shine, but their machine cleaner made my dishwasher run like new.

Unfortunately, there is no way to run it and see what it is doing. the only way to check if the spray arms are working properly is to put your ear up to the dishwasher while it is running. you should hear the water spraying along the door panel on both the top and bottom ( Note: some dishwashers run the spray arms simultaneously and sometimes they run at seperate times ).
another thing to check is your water temperature. the water must be 120 degrees in the dishwasher in order to clean the dishes properly. also, if your kitchen sink takes a while to get hot water, you will need to run the sink first prior to starting the dishwasher. I have to apply this method at my house because it takes a while for the water to get hot at my sink. if I run it without starting the sink, the water in the dishwasher is 80 degrees or so and will not clean properly. the heating element is not meant to heat the water. it is for drying purposes. the only way to check if the heater is working or not ( other than touching the element after a dry cycle to see if it is hot ) is to check it with an ohm meter on tone. if you get tone, then the element is good. The tablet is still in the dishwasher when the cycle is done the tablet door is open and there's nothing blocking it but the tablet is only half used thanking you? Maisie

If you have used the same tablets before with no problem I'd say not enough spray or not enough spray pressure now. Clear all holes in both spray arms and clean the filter or filters. If you are trying a new kind of tablet try a different one or a powder. If it is still getting your dishes clean be thankful and don't worry.

Whirlpool dishwasher model GU2275XTVQ1 cleans poorly on top only

Check your hose, pump and all water lines for lime scale build up. Sometimes if you dont use some kind of lime away product every few months your machine will/can get lime scale build up from hard water causing it to not properly dispense the water through out your machine. You can also try to run a load with no dishes and no soap but put just lime away in your machine. It might just clear any clogs you might have or starting to get.

Not cleaning the dshes. Material lrft on dishes. Suspect poor water flow.

Fill with salt. Clean out all rotary arms. And put a dishwasher cleaner through. The rotary arms get blocked with lime scale.

My dishwasher has not been cleaning well over the last few months. Ive tried different dewtergents but it seems more to do with the operation. How do I figure out whats going on?

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

Model gu1200xtlq dishwasher can't find my manual it is 8 years old and having problems with dishes not getting clean particles left inside cups and on dishes and even inside the tub after a cycle

you can go to and input your model number in the manuels colum and you will be able to download a new manuel.
to clean you dishwasher you can use some CLR or any other kind of lime and scale remover to clean the inside and the spray arms.
if this does no good then you may need to replace the main wash motor.make sure there is enough water in the unit when it is running lack of water is a big problem with not getting dishes clean

Dishwasher runs but the dishes aren't clean and low water pressure out of the arms dish soap left in the dishsoap tray

Try some Lime Away or high strength vinegar, to remove any scale from the pump. If it is not scalely, try to remove the spray arms to check if the pump has trash in it.

Clogged water dispenser in Bosch dishwasher

Hi, Logmanup (slight bouts with dyslexia, sorry)

By "spinning water dispensers", I assume you mean the spray arms, right? OK... if they are getting clogged with debris it would be nice to know what kind of debris. Pieces of broken glass? Plastic? Lime scale? Iron? And yes, when they get clogged they won't rotate, won't allow pressurized water through and therefore won't clean the dishes.

For the purpose of this solution, I'll assume that there are little white particles clogging up the jets on the spray arms. This indicates hard water and lime scale build up.

Other than completely disassembling the entire motor/pump assy. (you really don't want to go there), the best way to clear this out of the system is to use an over the counter chemical called Dishwasher Magic or something similar. If the lime scale build up is really bad (and it sounds like it is), use a couple of bottles to start with and follow up with a bottle per month thereafter.

As an aside... If I assumed correctly about the lime scale build up, that means that it's also affecting other appliances as well. Mainly, your hot water heater. If you haven't done it before, please read this to perform maintenance on it. And a product something like this for your washing machine.

I hope this was helpful. Let us know if this works or not. If not, please write back and we'll go a little deeper.

Fine gritty residue on dishes, particularly on glasses

alm84, Are you using a brand name powder like Electrosol or Cascade? Try that first. Seriously, it makes a difference.
When you say your water temp is within the recommended temp for the detergent manufacturer, do you mean the water heater temp at the sink tap is 120 degrees? MOST problems with cleaning that are not caused by generic detergent or plugged filter/debris in the impeller area are caused by a failed heating element. No kidding, it makes a BIG difference and once it is repaired, you will see an immediate difference.
glenda, First try this: remove the lower spray arm and the filter and assembly. Clean everything in the sink and with a flashlight, inspect everywhere for "chunks" that is probably causing the noise.
Reassemble and test. If dishes still do not get clean, check the heating element, replace if needed.
If that does not fix the problem, you will need to replace the main wash motor/impeller.
Good Luck!
Please update me with what you both find. OK?
