Question about Dishwashers
Ive tried different tablets, dishwasher has been cleaned for lime scale, filters and spray arms are clean , ive checked all hoses, tried longer wash program. it was working well 2 weekc ago but now isnt doing the dishes properly. its 18 months old. i think its not spraying properly? can i operate it and watch whats happening?
Make sure the top rack sprayer bar at the back of the dishwasher is not slight bent and entering the hole. If the top rack adjusts height, sometimes it can be bumped out of alignment when you adjust. You can put it in the guide, and it will go in the hole (with rubber cap) in the back of the dishwasher when you push in the top rack. You can pop out the spray arms and make sure they are not blocked.
Finally you might have a build up of deposits on the screen. You can remove and clean. As it won't recycle water adequately. I don't work for Lemi Shine, but their machine cleaner made my dishwasher run like new.

Unfortunately, there is no way to run it and see what it is doing. the only way to check if the spray arms are working properly is to put your ear up to the dishwasher while it is running. you should hear the water spraying along the door panel on both the top and bottom ( Note: some dishwashers run the spray arms simultaneously and sometimes they run at seperate times ).
another thing to check is your water temperature. the water must be 120 degrees in the dishwasher in order to clean the dishes properly. also, if your kitchen sink takes a while to get hot water, you will need to run the sink first prior to starting the dishwasher. I have to apply this method at my house because it takes a while for the water to get hot at my sink. if I run it without starting the sink, the water in the dishwasher is 80 degrees or so and will not clean properly. If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.
If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...
