Question about RCA D52W20 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have an RCA d52w20 and a few weeks ago I noticed it took a few times to get the TV to turn on. I will turn it on and the screen stays black but I will here a click and the green light will come on then go off and then another click and light and then they both go off again. The TV never actually shows a picture or sound. I can try it over and over and over and over and eventually 20-50 tries it will actually come on. My wife actually refuses to turn it off now. I work with computers for a living and am pretty good at hardware but have never worked on a TV. What does this issue sound like?
Is this your set?http://tv.rca.com/NR/rdonlyres/A2ED8EB5-A0AF-401F-A380-3CB61D5EBEB1/0/D52W20_222Chassis.pdf If it is, there could be a bad solder connection in the start up power supply or there is a resistor that will get loose or change value. It gives the power supply the start up pulse from the flyback transformer. there are no user replaceable parts inside this set, and the longer you wait to get it serviced, the more its going to cost. Unless you have a service manual and understand how the SMPS works, please play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.
