Where is the wireless switch on my IBM think pad laptop?

the r40 has no hardware switch. it has a software switch. you must first determine what type of wifi card if any is installed. most of the stock cards are intel or cisco and the ibm support site has the software used to control them. sometimes, thru the network connections, windows can take control if the drivers are installed.

Thermal sensing eror ibm r40

Sorry to say, unless you are a hands on kind of person and can fix it yourself, the thermal sensor is malfunctioning and the only fix is to have it repaired by an authorized dealer.*********** board and CPU have these installed in certain spots to monitor temperatures. I hope this helps and good luck!

IBM R40 Problems AC adaptor plug needs to be adjusted (wiggled, coached on the female connector) minutely to have panel (green) lights illuminate. No battery, Windows gets on screen, password entered, then...

I recommend bringing this laptop into Best Buy for repair. This has several hardware related issues from what you've described. If the repair quote is any more then $200 (which i anticipate it will be) I would consider investing in a new laptop and not throw good money after bad.

Thanks

Blank Screen

ccfl ( cold cathode flouroscent lamp ) is the backlit feature of the lcd panel. If you see a blank screen but do see the output on the external monitor then you sure have to take it to the hardware tech to get the inbuilt LCD panel checked. it seems to be a electronic failure. Thanks Ashish.
