I have a 2007 electra glide classic. Problem began, I accidently hit the kill switch and the ignition switch at the same time and noticed a "diagnostic code"... just the word diagnois, in the faring panel. Then it went away. I started the bike--no problem, perfect. The next few times I started the bike the check engine light would come on when starting the bike--I just never noticed this occurring before and it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes the check engine light doesn't come on until after 10 or so second after the bike starts, again, sporatically. Yesterday that is what happened and the light goes out; yesterday also while sitting at a light, the check engine light came on and also the battery light--just about 5-10 seconds, both went out; rode home--no problem. A friend of mine who is a mechanic for 25+ years told me to reset my computer, so he had me turn the key on, cycle through the set up, and off (3x's). Then turn on the bike. No problem. So about an hour later I went out to check, "just to see", then again the check engine light came on about 5-10 seconds after turning on the key.

SOURCE: went to start bike after sitting for a few weeks

starter relay/solenoid stuck open and drained the battery. charge the battery and replace the relay/solenoid. Sometime you can tap on the relay lightly with a hammer and get it to unstick and work but it's best to replace it.

Sounds like your charging system is not charging the battery.

Put a volt meter on the battery, run the engine up to maybe 2,000 RPM. The voltage must be at least 13.8V, but not more than 14.5.

If that is all OK, your battery is worn out, and is not holding sufficient reserve. It would need to be replaced.

How do I hook up the accessory lights to my 2008 electra glide classic

There should be a plug under the seat, this is what is used to plug the lights in, it is controlled by the accessory switch near the ignition switch.
