Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
Can someone please help me activate the infrared or bluetooth on this computer, its a used computer so I have no manuals. Please please please....
First of all, did the first solution provider acutally believe that a good dell latitude d600 would be made by such a horrible company as compaq? thats insulting. Secondly, Dell doesn't seem to provide drivers, and i have yet to remember wher i got them in the past. In the mean time, next time you reboot the computer, press F2 to enter the BIOS setup. Press F2 untill you see a page mentioning something about either Infrared, IR, or IrDA. Make sure it is set to enabled. If you are lucky, windows will see it and attempt to download the drivers. Being i am running the Windows 7 Beta, i have yet to convince windows to do that. Good Luck

You will need to install drivers for the bluetooth and any other devices that are connected to your laptop.
To check on the installed devices, go to the Control Panel, then System, then Hardware Tab, then Device Manager, then look at the list of components, if you see a yellow ? along side a component say bluetooth, it means that the driver was not installed for that device.
If you don't see that device listed that mens you don't have that piece of hardware installed.
To download drivers for your lapotp go to www.compaq.com WEB site then to their support/download page, search by your model (ie. Latitude D600), you will see a list of drivers of the components that are install on that model laptop, it may be that some devices are not installed on your laptop, Suggest you save the files you need, note the file name and the associated component. You can save these on a CD if you need them again at a later time.
(make a folder for each component so you can easily identify the device eg folders for video, audio, modem, LAN etc.).
