You need to transfer the music using a program called musicmatch which is available from the philips website. These philips players are awkward like this. Hope this helps

Can't belive this got an innappropiate rating. This is not a plug and play MP3 player as you have to transfer the music using musicmatch. Maybe in future they should just read the manual.

How do i load music on the ipod

iTunes is always the first choice for most of iPod users when it comes to transferring music from computer. It can help you transfer and backup files easily.
  1. Connect your iPod to PC via matched USB cable.
  2. Click the phone icon on the left corner of the interface. To manage your media files manually, you'd better go to "Options" under "Summary"tab, cancel "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" and check "Manually manage music and videos". Don't forget to click "Apply" when it's done.
  3. Import music into iTunes library from computer by clicking "File" and then "Add File to Library". Once transferred successfully, you can select the music icon on top to see all the songs.
  4. Click "Music" under "Settings" tab. Choose "Sync Music". You can either sync entire music library or selected playlists as you like. Then click "Sync" button at the bottom.

Please note that if you have hundreds of thousands of songs in iTunes Music Library, you'd better create a separate playlist for the songs you want to transfer. Then you can choose the playlist when you sync music to iPad with iTunes. The following guidance will show you how to transfer songs from iPhone to iPad with iTunes.

1. Transfer Purchased songs from iPhone to iTunes Music Library.
Sync Music
2. Connect iPad to computer with USB cable.

How do I transfer a playlist from I-Tunes to my I-pod?

Connect your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect the iPod automatically, then click iTunes menu "File -> Sync iPod", the songs will be transferred from iTunes to iPod.
Or You may try this ipod transfer, it's an iTunes alternative that can help you manage iPod files including delete, upload, play, copy, etc. It's much easier to use than iTunes. It can also help you manage multiple iPods on one computer or manage iPod on multiple computers, even copy music and video from iPod back to computer or iTunes. So you will not lose your iPod files even though you switch to a new iTunes library. My friends recommend it to me, it works pretty well.

How to transfer playlist from itunes to ipod model a1236 4gb

As is known, iTunes helps to sync media files and apps. when users are about to sync music to their iPod, they'll find the option of syncing playlist. When the users check the playlist to sync, they will sync the whole playlist to their iPod.
  1. Connect your iPod to computer, and launch iTunes if it doesn't open automatically. As is shown, all the playlists on iTunes are on the left side.
  2. Then, click "iPod nano" on the top of iTunes. Some of you may prefer the old look of the iTunes. If so, go to the View menu and select Show Sidebar to show the left side of the window that displays all media libraries.
  3. Click Music, then choose "Sync Music", "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" and target playlist > Click "Apply" below to transfer playlist from iTunes to iPod.

I have a problem to download music.

Hi,

As with much to do with the iPhone, there's a bit of a trick to getting this working smoothly so you can have control over your iPhone music, while keeping it as darn easy to work with as possible. The answer? Create a custom playlist for your iPhone music library.
Let me show you how to do it - it's pretty darn easy.
Pop into iTunes and choose File --> New Playlist. Now rename it to something logical: I use "iPhone Sync":
itunes-playlists-iphone.png

Now you can just drag and drop music from your iTunes library (in iTunes, needless to say) into this new playlist. When you're ready, you'll see a bunch of music happily ensconced in the playlist (remember, it's all just "pointers": the actual music files are still safely in the main music library, so if you delete something from a playlist , you haven't deleted the original music file itself):

At the bottom of the iTunes window it shows you how many songs are in the playlist, along with the size and total playing time.
At this point, you need to plug in your iPhone if you haven't already done so. It'll pop up the usual summary screen:

Now click on the "Music" tab and you'll see that you can select "sync playlist". Do that, then select the new iPhone sync playlist you've created

Set things up and that's all there is to it. Now click "Sync" in iTunes and it'll synchronize your playlist with the iPhone music library and next time you click on that ole' "iPod" button on the iPhone, your selections from you music library will be present.
Oh, and one really nice feature of creating this playlist is that you can manage it, adding and deleting songs to your heart's desire, even without your iPhone present. Whatever changes you make are instantly applied to your iPhone music library the very next time you synchronize the device. Suddenly even 8GB might feel small. :-)

Playlist Problem

There is no firmware to fix this issue. I pored through the documentation, and there is nothing that says it will max at 400 songs. Make sure the playlist was loaded in msc mode - the manual suggests it - and that all of the songs are in the correct format. It may be an endemic limit of the unit.
