Question about Brother MFC-665CW All-In-One InkJet Printer
The Yellow cartridge on my printer indicates "empty." I need to print something and it doesn't matter if it's B&W. I disabled "color printing" on the computer, but the printer still refuses to print ANYTHING. Do all cartridges need to be full even if I'm only printing in B&W?

brother won't print od do anything is one of the 4 inks are empty so first of all you have to replace whatever is empty, when you remove it it will ask you if you changed it and if it is a new one you will press 1 twice per cartridge, if you put compatible ink in you will clog the ink head up and then be stuffed

The brother machines require ink in all the cartridges as it is always flushing ink through the heads to "clean" it. This means you must have ink in all cartridges at all times unfortunately or the brother will not work. Even if you could somehow get it to work it could damage your printhead anyway.
Please rate my advice, good or bad.

...and 50? Is it toggling between those two error codes?
Anyway, see here what to do:

Did you have a paper jam before this happened? If yes then the paper must have pushed the encoder strip out of alignment. You will need to turn off the printer and then push it back into slot to fix it. Let me know if you need more help. Sai.

SOURCE: How do I clear
51 error says that the purge assembly is stuck and not cycling properly. If you can power up and get the printhead to the center and unplug again, look with a flashlight in the far right corner where the printhead parks for any paper scraps or things that don't belong and remove them it might work again. Otherwise a shop repair to possibly replace the cleaning assembly.
