what is the network name that you're trying to connect to?

by default, it should be the word 2wire and the last 3 digits of ur 2wire's SN. (you should see the SN under the router)

so for ex: ur SN is 123456789012, its going to be 2WIRE012.

Next is, what is the WEP key that ur using? The WEP key is the set of number (10 numbers to be exact) located just under the SN. Its enclosed in brackets like these [ ].

Try connecting using these info and keep me posted on what happens.

The DSi only works with WEP encryption. The 2Wire and most other newer routers use WPA encryption.

Simply logon to your router with a web browser. The default IP for it is but it might be different, just check the manual or internet for the IP. Go to "Home Network" then "Advanced Settings" and change the security from WPA to WEP and save.

Thats it!

Hope that helps.

Try changing your WiFi encription to WEP or no security, this should be available on your cablemodem/router web internface (need a user and password for that) under the Wireless/Security option.

DS Lite is not compatible with any other WiFi encription for online gaming: "Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3. Connecting to a "2WIRE" wifi connection. Says the

I understand that you are having trouble connecting your Nintendo DS wirelessly to your 2Wire router. The solution is simple, your Nintendo DS only supports WEP (Wireless Encription Passkey) security. It is highly possible that your 2Wire router's wireless security is set to WPA. That means you will need to reconfigure your router so that it will be utilizing WEP as a security for your wireless connection. To be able to do this, you need a couple of information from the one who setup your router. 1. User name of your router 2. Password or your router.

Once you have gotten this information, you will need to access your router configuration page through one of the computers that is linked to your 2Wire router by typing on the address bar of your browser.

It will be asking you for the username and password. If nobody had setup or changes the username and password of the router, use this default username and password of a 2Wire router. Username: (none) Password: Wireless or Username: 2Wire and Password: (none). Try any of the two. If it does not work, try admin and the word password for the password or any other combinations of the two.

Once you have entered the router's configuration page click the Home Network Tab and then click on Wireless Settings. You will see there a portion that says Wireless security. In that area, you will see a drop down where you can choose what kind of wireless security you want on your system. As I have said, the Nintedo DS does not support any other wireless security setting but WEP. That means you will need to change the drop down to WEP. That also means after changing this, you will need to reconfigure your other wireless devices (like your laptop) to use WEP as well.

Try using the Nintendo DS at different locations that have either wi-fi or a friends house that has a wireless router.

If your DS doesn't work at a few different locations then that means your built-in wireless card in the DS is bad.

There is also different things you can try as well according to Nintendo, here is a link to there page as well:

We have wifi in our house and i cant seem to connect with my ds. what do i need to do?

Verify that you have the two items needed to connect your DS: a WiFi compatible DS game and a wireless router with WEP or less encryption. Sometimes the DS has trouble with more advanced router security.
Insert a WiFi compatible game into the Nintendo DS and access the wireless network options screen. Each game does this a little differently so check your manual if you have trouble finding it.
Use the options interface to set up a new wireless connection. Choose "Nintendo WiFi Connection Settings," then your first unused connection preset, then "Search for a Wireless Access Point." If everything is set up properly you should be able to find one and connect.
Look at the color of the padlock next to your connection name. Blue means you are ready to go, red means you need to supply a password to connect (common with most home routers) and gray means your router is using security that the DS doesn't understand.

Nintendo ds

WPA is a very secure method of protecting the connection between your device and the router. I would guess that the DS will only support WEP, which is a much less secure encryption system.

If you want to connect your DS you will need to log on to the router and enable WEP security.

You will then need to enter the password you set in the previous stage in to the DS.

Error code 51301 when trying to set up WIFI connection between DS and a 2Wire router

Did this connection used to work but has suddenly stopped? "Power cycle" your router and modem. To do this, unplug both the modem and the router from the power outlet. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then plug in the router. Try to connect the Wii, Nintendo DS, or Nintendo 3DS online and test for proper response.
Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker. For help doing this, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). The information you need is found in the "Broadcast Channel:" area.
