My wife was clean out our stove with oven cleaner. She left the oven over night but when she came back to clean it out, the oven door is locked and she can't open it.
Do oven doors lock if the self clean is turned on? Could that have been activated accidentally? I didn't even know an oven door could lock :)
I followed directions on self-cleaning for my stove, after 2 hours I noticed two burned lines on outside of front oven door. How can you help me with this problem.I followed directions on self-cleaning for my stove, after 2 hours I noticed two burned lines on outside of front oven door. The oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. Pheo,
Turn Breaker/Fuse for the stove, your electrical panel, “OFF” and then “ON”, wait 20 - 30 seconds and the door should unlock.
It may be that the temp sensor is going out and you'll need to have that looked at soon.

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.
Most of these self-cleaning stoves have to cool down before the door can be opened. This is a safety feature. Has the oven completely cooled down? If so you could try unplugging it wait 15 second and plug it back in. This might reset the lock.
Here are some solution on how to unlock the door of your oven ans do self cleaning below.
IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com The
only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the
clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the
clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock. IF the self
clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven
to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature).hope this helps you out please rate this solution it helps get better results for our customers like you
Here are solution on how to clean up your oven below.
Self Cleaning
1
Remove oven racks and soak them in soapy water.
2
Turn on your automatic oven cleaner; this usually entails locking the door and turning the function switch to "clean."
3
Let the oven do its work;it will heat for several hours, charring off baked-on foods.
Fast Cleaning
1
Remove oven racks and place them in soapy water to soak.
2
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
3
Turn the oven off and spray the inside with oven cleaner.
4
Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
5
Wipe the cleaner and dirt away with a damp sponge, rinsing frequently.
Try unplugging it. If that does not work, try to use a flat object like a butter knife, to move the latch (between handle, and top of stove.) Other than that... have a handy guy you know come look at it....
After the lock indicator light goes out, move the
door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the
selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS
UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is
unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock
mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to
CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off.

Thanks a million, solved the problem like a charm. For those that can't find it, it is on the left side orf the OVEN, not the stove. Once you open the door, you'll find it on the frame's upper left side corner, can't miss it. Good luck
