Question about Symantec WinFax Pro for PC

Incoming fax freezes system

My status box shows 'automatic recieve disabled' even though that's not the case in my program setup search. Status shows an incoming fax that hasn't yet been received, and now my system is completely frozen so I cannot send or receive faxes.

How i install idm in my computer after download idm

click on the setup file to run it. it will again ask you to run the file run it again. there will be some prompts like next , install and finish. just follow the instructions. once it is downloaded everything that you want to download will go directly into idm. to check the status of the download look into the right hand corner bottom tray where the time and date is displayed. there will be a blue icon for down arrow key . click on that arrow it will show you the status.

Installed voice over IP phone system today at work and now my winfax connects, sends page 1, but log status says "No acknowlegement received on last attempt" so it keeps retrying to send the fax. It worked...

Make sure your VoIP system has been adjusted for optimum fax transmission. VoIP doesn't do very well with fax, most providers much change the Codec to support fax (eg. t.38 )

I found that my IE8 slowed down because of BHO's that got into my system.

BHO's or Browser Helper Objects are IE8 Additons that are sometimes voluntarily added like Yahoo Search, or Google Toolbar, and sometimes not voluntary. BHO's cannot always be uninstalled or removed.
Two things you can try:

(These operations can be performed 'on the fly' so you can do them now as you're reading.)

1) Right Click your mouse on the empty space along the Menu Bar, (just to the right of the "Help" Menu. This will show a list of IE8 Menu bar additions.
In the list, a check mark can be added or removed to open or close each option. Try removing any unnecessary bars by uncheking them. (The Menu Bar is necessary so leave that one on)
This may speed things up, if so, you're good.

In the case of BHO's you can try the management console. It's a hidden feature.
2) First follow option one and Enable the Status Bar by clicking it till there is a check mark beside it.

Second with the Status bar showing, (at the bottom of the window, you'll see slightly defined boxes at the bottom. (About nine of them)
The third box is the BHO management tool, double click it to pop up the BHO Management too.
This will list all your BHO's, clicking on each will display in the bottom pane info about that particular BHO and provide controll buttons to disable or enable it.
Right clicking the BHO's in the list will give you the same controll options.

Only AntiViurs BHO's are truely relevant, but you can experiment and see the different effects.
This worked for me, hope it works for you too.

Note: AVG takes several days to settle in after it's first installed; it's behind the scenes operations make internet browsing slow for a little while but eventually this goes away.

This can be any number of problems, like corrupt logs, too many entries in your default log structure, or simply a bad modem setup. You can check this link regarding rebuilding your logs:;CODE=01;HID=30

Internet Explorer 8 vs. Norton Protection Center

Symantec/Norton has actually done a very good thing. You can update to Norton NIS2008 for FREE.
It solves the phishing problem and is a greatly improved product. CCSVCHOST.EXE does not run continuously and there is a resource meter to show what CPU usage Norton is taking. Scans are faster and web page loading is instantaneous.

Winfax Pick-up

Try looking at best buy for a fax switching device it can tell the difference between data and voice. I don't know how well they work but i have not used that particular program. I did find this though on another site

You can have Microsoft Fax automatically answer every incoming call to your modem or, instead, you can manually choose which calls to answer. The quickest way to change this setting is to right-click on the fax icon on the Windows taskbar then choose Modem Properties to display the Fax Modem Properties dialog box . Another way to get to these properties is from within Exchange; choose Tools, Microsoft Fax Tools, Options, then switch to the Modem tab, select the modem, and click the Properties button.

So you have to change the settings in Exchange I assume

Winfax pro problem

This is a solution that was suggested for an earlier edition of the Winfax Pro, but there is no reason why it shouldn?t work on this one as well: 1. Close Winfax and any other program that has anything to do with it, delete all the temp files that yo don?t need. 2. Run Scandisk and fix any problems that may come up. 3. Run delfix.exe which is located in the winfax folder in the status files. 4. Run delfix-rebuild and delfix-optimize and check if the problem is solved. If the problem reoccurs there is another possibility- to change the name of the WinFax\data folder and create a new one which you will transfer the address book file, status files etc. from the old folder. Note that there might be some information that wouldn?t go through.
