Question about Whirlpool Dryers

Dryer blowing & rolling but no heat

My Whirlpool gas dryer #LGR6620PQ1 - the drum is rolling & the blower is blowing - but there is no heat to dry the clothes

After dismantling the dryer last night - removing the entire front face plate & disconnecting the drum (didn't know about the little plug until now) I found that the ignitor was working - however, as the flames are running - it is not heating inside the drum except to only keep the air slightly warm....could it be the coils?

Thank you so very much - just picked up my coils & am going to replace them this evening! Hopefully all will be well with the world of laundry after that!

There should be a little white plug on the front of the dryer. (lower left) Take that out and start the dryer. IF your ignitor is working you will be able to see it turn red through the whole. If you dont change the ignitor. then it will light the burner.

It could very well be the coils. When you change the coils you have to change all of them at once. But did you watch the burner light? The ignitor puts of heat when its on. Also check to see how you airflow is. Check to see if your vent is plugged. But if your burner is lighting replace all the coils.

My dryer is producing heat but is not drying, i am drying the same size load i usually do on the same cycle. the lent is cleaned out, and the oustide vent is blowing hot air. why are my clothes not getting...

make sure that all the seals are ok, door, front and back drum seal, blower housing seal(inside dryer). also consider that depending on washer type if you overload or have a worn drive belt in washer it will take twice the time to dry. also make sure that the dryer drum tumble. open door, press door switch and start dryer to see if drum turn. lastly disconnect vent pipe behind dryer and dry a load. if it dry ok then you have a partial blockage. you can also have a weak heating element.

DRYER HAS HEAT BUT WON'T DRY CLOTHES REMOVED VENT ON BACK OF DRYER AND DRYER SOUNDS LIKE IT SPEEDS UP AND SLOWS DOWN

you have to clean out the dryer,do this once a year if it's gas.unplug the dryer, remove the vent line,if it's a long run blow it out with a leaf blower, first make sure there's nothing like a screen or something on the outside duct then blow all the lint outside, next you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, then vac out the lint in the cabinet where the motor is then with a shop vac blow off the motor and blow out the cabinet and all the gas parts,do this once a year and your clothes will dry on time, your dryer parts will last longer and most of all you won't have to worry about having a lint fire

Dryer runs but won't heat

As the clothes gently toss about inside the drum, a temperature control thermostatic disk regulates the heat. It is set for 160f for cotton and it mounts on the blower housing. As air is drawn into the drum and out the backside of the dryer the heat is regulated by this control. It sends 120 volts to the gas assembly. Right next to it is a fuse. The duct fuse is set to blow at 250f. Should that control fail to open and allow for heat to build to abnormally high temps. Note: the fuse will kill the heat source only on most dryer, the dryer will however continue to run. Lint and vent blockage can restrict the airflow and make the heat inside build to dangerous levels. The control thermostat powers up the heat for a minute then shuts down for a few minutes, then repeats this all throughout the drying process, the gas does not stay on! That would burn the clothes. If both of those items check ok and the dryer vent and lint has been cleaned, I next take a look at the gas assembly. I check the flame sensor first. If the flame sensor is open the ignitor will not glow. If that turns out to be good I next check the ignitor itself for continuity. If it turns out to be good I replace the coils. Those coils cannot be checked because they do not act up until energised. Sometimes the coils will work, get hot and fail, cool down and work again. I have some repair photos: HERE

It seems to run forever
It's noisy
It won't start
The light doesn't work
