I am trying to install an axis 1610 network print device to controla canon 1370. The add printer wizard freezes when finishing the install. If you cancel out of everything and kill explorer.exe, you get the server back. Then, if you try to go totproperties, you get an exception errir code, both at the server and the client. When I run the Canon rouble-shooter, all it says is registry settings are incorrect.
Any ideas?
Part of the problem is likely either bad values in the registry or insufficient privileges in part of the registry. Delete anything in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Canon folder, and make sure you have permissions in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ before attempting a reinstall. You might also run a program like
Jouni Vuorio's RegCleaner.
If you can't get it to work, I'll buy the Axis 1610 off you ... I've been looking for one, but they're no longer available.

Have you checked your driver settings to ensure correct media size and orientation? Can you print internal test prints correctly? Try Troubleshooting in the ink menu. If the device shuts down part way through a print, there are probably scan axis issues.
i have the same printer- unplug the printer usb cable- un-install the printer- plug the usb back in. when the new device wizard comes up, tell you have cd. insert install cd- browse for your cd device letter- choose that. then re-install printer- full install! will prob. ask you to 'name' your printer!- write down that name! you'll need that, as well as your psc 1610 i.d. then , if your computer is the net-work comp., you need to set it up on control panel to share. then check other computers on network and see if they 'see' the hp psc 1610 and then add them to printer sharing- this is where you'll need the 'name'. i had less problem with w98se, than i did with xp pro or home! love you, microshaft!! good luck!
Possible reason why you cannot print with the print server is because the computer is not getting a valid IP from the router or a firewall is installed in the computer. You have to disable all firewalls installed in the computer.
For the print server setup, please follow the steps below:
Note: Before setting up the print server, make sure that you can print when printer is connected directly to the computer.
1. Wire the print server to router. Check the lights on it. It should have the ACT light on and the Error light off.
2. One way to test if the printer would work with the print server is to reset the print server for 3 to 5 seconds while it is powered on and after you release the button, the printer should automatically print the IP address of the print server.
Note: If the printer did not print, there is a possibility that they are not compatible. However, you may still continue to try to set up the print server.
3. Install the PS121 software.

You can enter a descriptive Device Name and Domain Name or accept the defaults. Click Next to proceed to the IP Address configuration screen. The Print Server Wizard displays a recommended static IP address setting for the PS121. This is usually fine. e. Click Next to proceed. f. Click Finish to exit the Print Server Setup Wizard. This completes the configuration of the PS121 for operation on your network. g. Click Yes to run the Add Printer Port Wizard. Follow the instructions in the next section for using the this wizard to set up each computer to use the PS121.

You may also use the links below as your guide to troubleshoot the print server:
However, if this does not resolve the issue we will need to get some additional details from you to be able to assist you further. I have summarized my questions below:
1. Model number of router 2. Model of printer 3. Operating system of computer/s
After downloading is finished, unplug the printer USB and run the
software that you downloaded. The software installer will tell you when
to connect USB.
A Dlink's default IP range is 192.168.0.x, it would therefore hand out a address in that range. Since the router reports an IP of 10.43.14.125 I believe that it has been assigned a static IP Address. This is the manual. https://www.axis.com/files/manuals/28049.pdf
You need to temporarily assign your computer an IP of 10.43.14.1
follow the instructions here How to Assign Static IP Address in Windows 7 8 10 XP or Vista
Log into the printer server's webpage by opening your browser and going to 10.43.14.125
Turn on DHCP, save settings, reboot
Undo the changes you made to your computer. Reboot
before running the PS Wizard in Vista, right-click on the icon for PS
Wizard and select "run as administrator". This will clear the bind
errors and wrong segment errors many times - this only applies to
vista.
Hello CPA,
The communications protocol may not be correct between VB6 and printer. Look in the Add-in Manager for the proper printer lib. Crystal is hard to work with from VB6. I know this is not much, but have you tried using the application wizard? Also there is a lot of information on MSN @ microsoft.
