If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use theCrucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system you should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible http://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackardCompaqPresarioSR1215CL.html
If this is an upgrade or an addition to the RAM slot, you better be sure of the RAM(Memory module) already installed on your pc. Take the already installed RAM and look for it's speed(mostly printed on the either side) i.e, 600 MHZ, 800 MHZ and see if it matches with the one you bought with respect to its speed. If you are not pretty sure, google the make and model and seek for info.
Possible Reasons for system running slow:
> Installed a RAM which is incompatible with the curretly allocated one.
> RAM speed conflict. Old RAM : 600MHZ, NEW RAM : 800 MHZ
> If neither of these could solve your issue and you have installed RAM with the same speed config., it can be related to your temp files and folders. Do a Disk Defrag or Disk cleanup to speed up the PC.
I guess you might be facing an issue with incorrect RAM installation. Please check back with your seller.
Unfortunately, if the manufacturer states that the max RAM supported is 1GB, that's going to be all you're going to be able to install - unless you replace the motherboard. This can be a considerable expense.
One last thing you could do is go to Crucial - there, you can run a scan on your computer to find out what memory options you have. I would be very surprised to learn they differ from what Compaq is telling you (unless the motherboard was replaced by someone already).
Have u installed compatible RAM i.e. of same frequency as earlier RAM or just installed another RAM. Pl check for this . Also increase paging and ur system speed will do increase. Also keep ur primary partition less loaded for this.
If you want to increase cpu speed so you need to increase RAM memory. You can fix it on motherbord of desktop cpu. But if you have low space on disk storage partition so you can add space to desktop with 2 method. (1) you can add harddisk to desktop cpu with sata or IDE .SATA harddisk is best if your motherbord support SATA. You can add harddisk as you like for example 80 GB or 160 Gb. (2) If you want to add RAM memory for speed reson you can purchase new RAm and fix it in memory module slot on motherbord. There is 2 type on RAM in currently. DDR1 and DDR2
you can add RAM memory like 512 MB or 1GB or more.
