This is how i solved this problem

Go to
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and then just delete the file called ForceClassicControlPanel and then exit the registry and
the switch to category view should show up.

Howdy, Ursha60, and welcome to Fixya.com.

That is kind of a common thing, especially when you have someone who prefers the older style. That side bar is called Common Tasks by windows options. Simply click Tools on the bar above and then click "Folder Options" On the "General" tab you should see "Show Common Task in Folder." and "Use Windows classic folders." Simply check (or dot as the case may be) "Show Common Task in Folder" then click apply.

Hope that works out for you, if not let me know. If you have anymore Windows XP problems go ahead and post them and I'll be sure to give you a response quickly.

I cannot connect to my wireless network ( I can connect ONLY by wire) and my Internet provider suggested me to try and find a new driver. Can you find one and notify me?

Hi,

I think it would be better if you check first the Switch of your wireless and see if its turn ON. If happens that the switch is ON, you have to check the Device Manager on your machine and see if the wireless card is listed under Network Adapter. Here's how you can check the wireless card.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Start->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager (in Category View)

Start->Control Panel->Device Manager (in Large or Small Icon View and for Vista Classic View)

Windows XP
Start->Right Click on My Computer->Properties(it will open a window)->Click Hardware->Device Manager

Under Device Manager just double click on the Network Adapter and it should give you list, just check if your Wireless Card is listed, if its not most likely the card is not working or faulty. It would be better to call the manufacturer for more assistance.

How to unblock site in the server just like facebook?

  • Hi, to "Unblock a Program, you need to go to and open the "Firewall" in the "Security" area of the Control Panel; it will be listed as "Allow a Program through Window Firewall, you need to type the [name] of the [program], example: "facebook"in the ("unblock window"). You can do the same to (Block) programs, pop-ups... in the "Security area of the Internet Options, which you can also find in the category "listings" of the Control Panel." First, click on the "Start" button, in the (right pane) click on the Control Panel Icon, the next window will open to the "categories," select the areas that I mentioned above. Note: "Remember to click on the "Apply and OK button after you make the change."Restart the computer after you've made all the changes, so the changes can be applied correctly. "Rate the solution on its helpfulness, this way I will know if you need further assistance or not, I hope for the "latter! Thank you"

How do i change the toolbar theme?

Go to start, then control panel. You will either see “pick a category” or a page with around 30 icons to select from. If you see various icons, look to the left of the page and select “switch to category view.” Click on “Appearance and Themes.” Selecting “change the computers theme” allows you to change everything according to a package or you can use the tabs to select each feature. Below “Pick a task” are options for the display and taskbar (which I am assuming what you mean by the “toolbar.” If you are talking about something else, please clarify. My Control Panel crashes when I switch views.

Please try to open control panel in safe mode and let me know what happens?
you can go to safe mode by tapping f8 when computer is starting up.
If safe mode works fine then any of the the start up item, third party service, spyware or useraccount is causing the problem.

To find if startup item is causing the problem we need to use the msconfig command on run and click on startup item and disable all apply close click and restart on prompt and try to open control panel on normal mode.

please let me know the safe mode status.
