I have recent bought a fiat punto 2000 model and it had an old standard tape deck in it so i have decided to change it for a cd player the couple i have tryed just dont seem to have any power going to them...

Putting a CD player into a car is not as easy as some people think. The first piece of advice I give to people is to contact Crutchfield and get the proper help- adapter cables and instructions to do the job before plunging into the blind. I have installed many car units and serviced them too for a number of years. There are harnesses to be had depending on the unit you are using and you need to know where all those wires go and when you can't just hook them up any old way. Some cars have common grounded speakers through the chassis- most car amps do not like this at all they need two wires going to each speaker isolated from the cars ground system.

I have a VRVD630 i cant watch dvds because i dont know were to hook up the orange reverse light wire and the parking brake wire

the parking brake wire just needs to go to a ground other than the ground for the deck and the orange reverse light wire you shouldn't have to worry about it if you turn on the deck and you still can't watch movies try hook it up to the illumination wire.

I need to know how to install a cd player in my 1997 jeep wrangler sport.

My suggestion would be to buy a wiring harness and a dash mounting kit. After that unscrew or pull out the console/dash part thats around your factory deck. Then unscrew the bolts/screws holding the factory one in place. Remove it. Plug the wiring harness into the factory wire plug. Pull harness wires through the mounting kit. Attach the corresponding colored wires from the harness to your new deck. Slide your deck into the mounting kit and secure it in place. Most decks have little prongs that you can pry up to **** up against the mounting kit so it wont slide out without pushing those down (makes it more secure and harder to steal). Place deck with mounting kit into area factory deck was. Put the screws/bolts back into place tightly. Place console/dash part back on. You will need the mounting kit (99% of new decks are smaller than the factory). Wiring harness is optional but recommended.

Try going to the crutchfield website and look for help installing stereo. they can get you vehicle specific wiring codes for free. Also, almost everey stereo has common color codes for wiring. red- switched batt. +, yellow-constant batt. +, black= ground, blue- power anrenna, etc.

This deck is in protect mode

A couple things may cause this:
If a speaker wire shorted out (either a voice coil or the wire itself is grounded; touches the vehicles chassis ground)
Solution: disconnect each speaker from the deck and see if it turns back on. 90% of the time thats the problem.

It could be overheating.

I need to know why it says protect on the display screen

usually the red yellow and black are your main three that power on the deck yellow is for the batt red is for the ignition switch that tells the cd player to turn on when the key is turned and the black wire is ground (usually) depending on the car the deck wiring harness is always the same color but the harness wires vary
the illimination is usually and orange wire with a black stripe on it that needs to be hooked up if you have one so the screen turns on
p.constant is usually blue or blue with white stripe that is for amp turn on in some situations or power antenna.

I need installation instructions for a MTX thunder 280

BATT = 12v positve constant
GND = 12v negative or ground
REM. = 12v positive switched or remote wire.

The remote wire is most commonly found on aftermarket CD players. It's typically in the main wire harness. The most common color of this wire is blue with a white stripe.

BE MORE SPECIFIC!

Why do you need to trace them? Is it a stock amp? If you know where the amp is....then tracing the wiring is a cinch....

The amp has to be powered, so there's most likely a power wire from your battery. If it's a stock amp, it's powered from behind your cd player. And be more specific, what speakers? There's like what, six?

They all go to one spot man, right behind the cd player.

What's spiking? The sound? As in it's loud, quiet, loud, quiet, loud? You might have a bad ground somewhere, so check grounds. Those are easy to find, behind the deck the ground is black. If it's an aftermarket amp, then the ground is going to be close by to it. It's most likely screwed to the steel part of your car.

It could be your deck to, it might have just got randomly defective. You do have a 96 after all.

If it's an aftermarket cd player...check your wiring harness. You have to cut the wires from the car to tie them into the harness for your cd player, so jiggle those around to see if you can hear a difference.

Record player works but no sound from speakers

I've had this happen before, and it is caused by your ground wire not being hooked up. Depending on the type and age of turntable, it will have an additional wire (the ground), that needs to be hooked up to either a screw or some sort of opening similar to your speaker wire hookup. That should take care of the problem. If you don't have a ground wire coming out of your turntable, I don't know how to help, other than figure out how to ground the turntable.
