VAIO VGC-RB42G PC Desktop won't start; flashing MB light

I upgraded my RAM and everything went great until I put the side panel on, plugged the power cord in and pushed the start button. Nada, naught, nil, none, zero, zilch. No fan, nothing. I have a flashing light on the back of the "box" which is a duplication of the MB light. I have opened it back up and reseated everything that could be related without success. A coincidence that the power source died or is there a reset or access panel interlock that I missed? HELP!

Well, this didn't solve the problem, but it eliminated one more possibility. I replaced the PS and viola; itworks. Thx!

We plug in the power supply to the laptop and the schreen goes dimmer and the schreen starts to flash... All works fine when not plugged in to power supply..????

Try using a different power outlet and see if the problem continues. if so you may want to try a new power cable. Either you are not receving enough power from the outlet, or the cable may be shorted out in a spot. Hope this helps.

No power, power supply & motherboard green light blinking

I had the same exact problem for the same exact reason. Plug the power cable into the back. Open up the side of the case and unplug all the wires that the power supply plugs into. The motherboard, harddrive, cd & dvd drives, everything. wait about 10 minutes and plug them back in, plugging the BIG cable that connects to the motherboard back in LAST. This will make the light go from blinking to solid. I think it is a safety? to protect the motherboard from damage.
