Want to record VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KU but do not want to connect to my TV set. Is this possible? My TV is older and does not have the input/output jacks. I just want to put in a VHS tape and a...

If the entire VHS is full then you can easily transfer the VHS contents to the DVD. The video will play while it is recording onto the DVD, but you don't have to have it hooked up to any TV for it to record. Now if you don't know how long the VHS content is that you want to record to DVD, then you will have to hook up the player to a TV so that you can press stop when you reach the end of the content you want recorded. At least this is true in the way that I use to transfer VHS to DVD:

1) Turn on the unit
2) Insert VHS tape
3) Insert DVD-+R or DVD-+ RW
4) Using remote, press VCR
5)Using remote, press play then pause the tape where you want to start recording.
6)Using remote, press DVD
7) Using the remote, press DUBBING. The VHS should start to play and the DVD should start recording

When using this method, don't hit the RECORD button!

I hope this helps!

How do you transfer video VHS to DVD?

I'm glad to provide the instructions to transfer video from VHS Tape to DVD. You may purchase a DVD Recorder and connect the VCR to its A/V input to record the videos directly to a DVD. There are VCR/DVD Combo Recorders available where you can dub from VHS to DVD without using another VCR.

Alternately, if you have an A/V interface in your Computer, you can connect a VCR to the Computer and capture videos using Windows Movie Maker or any other video capture software. Once you transfer the video to the computer, you can burn the videos to a DVD using the DVD burner in the Computer.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require further assistance or any clarifications.

Can I transfer VHS to DVD on the Philips DVP3345VB? If so, how? The salesman at the store told me I could, but the directions are only for VHS to DVD. (The "Helpful Hints" mention VHS to DVD...

From the information provided by Philips for this model, it appears you can copy DVD to VHS (if the DVD is not copy protected), but not the other way round. The DVD section is a player only, not a recorder. The unit would need a DVD recorder to be able to transfer from VHS to DVD.

You can find information and manuals to download if you go to the following URL:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP3345VB/F7&slg=en&scy=US

If yours is a DVP3345VB, I think the sales guy may have got his wires crossed.

I dont really know whats wrong with it when ii try to get it to copy a vhs to advd it wont work?

I don't know what recorder machine you have or what your hooking up to do your transferring. You cant convert VHS movie to DVD by plugging in RCA jacks from VHS player to DVD recorder. DVD reads digital and VHS does not because it reads analog and out put analog. you have to covert VHS movie into digital in order to transfer to DVD. There is a program you can buy call Roxio Easy. great stuff, cost 59.00 buck for your desk top computer, everything you need is there to transfer VHS to DVD...hope that help some, good luck.
