Error message, ''close BTR cover'' for Dell 3100cn
Spoke with a dell rep. who after extensive checks, diagnosed problem as printer possibly needing a new fuse, cost of 11.95. But to send a guy out to do the work would be $250.00. Is there a way to obtain parts and find a local person to do the work?
Re: error message, ''close BTR cover'' for Dell 3100cn
The BTR cover is covered the fuser. If you open the rear door, it is located at the upper part, behind the metallic rod. The problem is the cover is installed unproperly: Its metal piece is not touched against the metal piece of the machine, so the machine does not "smell" the BTR cover.

Sounds like you have blown your power supply....you'll need a new one...Try www.getthatpart.com these guys carry all kinds of used parts at good prices and could possibly have the Power Supply you need....Normally Power Supplies in these units cost more to replace than the units orginally cost to begin with. Hope this helps
Almost the exact same problem. New 4350d Canon printer trying to connect it with Dell 8300 with XP. The computer says it does not recognize. Tried everything - reinstall drivers, download drivers, tried every USB port, swapped cables, spoke with Canon support and finally took the printer back and got a new one (Canon support person decided the USB board must be bad). New machine - same old problem.
