Question about Lexmark X5150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

LEXMARK X5150 CARTRIDGE ERROR

I have a Lexmark All-in-One X5150 printer. All of a sudden I started geting a connumication errors. I fixed these a couple of times by rebooting the computer. Now I am getting cartirdge errors (50C with a message to look at my user guide). I have an old color cartridge that I have not changed in years since we only do black and white prints. I tried the suggested fix in the User Manual which did not solve the problem. I got a new black cartridge and it did not solve the provlem. I tried cleaning the contacts in the printer cartridge buckets and on the cartirdges and that did not work. I am out of ideas. Can you help me?

Try this --
Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges

Problem Error: " Hardware Error 0504 " on the LCD Display Solution When you try to run the Clean option from the Ink Cartridge menu, the following message may appear: Hardware Error 0504.
To resolve this issue:

  1. Take both cartridges out of the printer.
  2. Switch off the printer using the power button.

Printer won't print--error 0502. What is this and how do I fix?


After months of use, your printer might get the habit of stopping in the middle of a page and showing "Hardware Error 0502" on the LCD display. If you leave the printer alone for a while, it might start printing again. Then again, it might not. Pretty annoying.

The Lexmark support site will let you power off, remove the power cord for 30 seconds, take out the cartridges and fiddle with some encoder strip. This whole procedure might take you up to 30 minutes and it will not help (been there, done that).

On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a kleenex and the problem seems to go away. Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.

Clean that with a paper towel. The towel will be black from the ink residue, but you will be able to print again.

I'm looking for a way to hook up lexmarkt620 printer to my computer. I did not recieve any download cd or floppy disk for my computer.
