1. Regularly "BACK-UP" your IPAQ 11x using a program like RESCO BACK-UP or SPB BACK-UP.

2. Be sure to always "BACK-UP" to your "SD Card" as your "MAIN MEM" will be wipred during the "CLEAN BOOT" process.

Procedures for "CLEAN BOOT" and "RESTORE."

1. Hold the "Windows Flag", "OK", and "VOICE" buttons down at the same time.

2. While continuing to hold down these buttons, press the "RESET" button for 3-5 seconds.

3. While still holding these buttons, let go the "RESET" button.

4. Finally, let go the "Windows Flag", "OK", and "VOICE" buttons.

5. The iPAQ will go into "CLEAN BOOT" mode and will "START-UP" again.

6. Use your "BACK-UP" program to "RESTORE" your system and program files and settings.

Note: After the "RESTORE" is complete, the IPAQ will automatically "SOFT RESET" again, but when it "STARTS-UP" again, you should be back to normal.

Note: I have encountered a reoccurring fault with MS Voice Command after
a "CLEAN BOOT" and "RESTORING". Just reinstall the MS Voice Command .cab file again.

Do hard reset again, if this does not work, then the internal disk is faulty and must be replaced.

Another trick, if you are using an SD card, the SD card may be defective, in this case take out the memory card and perform hard reset without the memory card inside.

If this does not work the device must be taken apart by a technician to test and eventually replace the solid state disk, or the board.

Ipaq 3115 screen

You need to open your PDA and check for a false contact between the connectors of the LCD screen and the main board.

Other cause may be that the LCD screen flat ribbon cable is defective.

Either problem requires to open the PDA to check it.

If you have experience in opening electronic devices then you can try it. Otherwise, I do recommend you to have a experienced technician in checking your PDA.

Best regards,

HP IPAQ 111 Handheld PDA

If you want to "wipe" the PDA heres how:

-you may need two people to do this,
-hold all three buttons together: START, OK, VOICE
-keep holding these buttons and push reset for 3 seconds
-let go the reset
-then let go the 3 buttons
-the Ipaq will go into CLEAN BOOT mode and start over again

Let me know if these worked.

Locked out of my ipaq

  • press and hold the Calendar and WiFi buttons

  • while holding those buttons down, press and hold the reset button for ~2 seconds

  • When the HP iPAQ screen begins to fade, release the Calendar and WiFi buttons first, then remove the stylus from the reset button.

  • Press reset again.  (Or, plug the device into the AC adpater.)

  • The Pda is now hard reset and restored to defaults stored in the rom memory. the password and everything else should be gone and it should work as if you had just opened it for the first time.

    Dropped PDA

First of all, you must dissasemble the pda if you have some experience with that. There are some possible problems, one regarding the display connector to the motherboard and the other to the motherboard itself.Probably the display connector isn't atached firmly to the motherboard. There is a worse scenario where you may accidentaly burned some dc convertors on the mainboard when attemting to power on after the pda was dropped. If you can, dissasemble the pda, check the connectors, remove and reconect the back-up battery, and then, just to be shure, perform a hard reset.
