with spanner on display, press and hold yellow clear key and 8 button down and it will give a 'c' code on the display that tells us where the area of fault is.

The spanner icon indicates an issue that normally needs a technician. As Rama said, if you press and 8 at the same time, you should see an error code. Write this error code down, and post it to the site (or mention it to the technician the next time you see him). One question: when was the last time your copier had a preventive maintenance? That's a very common reason for there to be "a spanner in the works"! (Sorry, I had to . . . *blush*)

Panasonic DP1820E check printer E02-02 red spanner

yep!
e2-02 means there is a machine error of lifting motor assembly for tray #2.
For sure this time you can't use your tray #2.
you may check it sometimes there's just a paper clogged at the rear of the paper tray. just remove your 2nd tray to see if there is a paper clogged inside. Otherwise the cover/case of the lifting motor is damaged and you will need a service technician to fix and replace it.
:)

Esp3 printer, has new cartriges, printing very fient

Have you tried the maintenance tool - if you open the kodak printer status monitor in your taskbar (next to the clock); at the top right hand side you will see an icon showing crossed hammer and spanner, click on this and run the tools from top down (dont need to do the test page).
If that doesnt work you could try this:-
my new esp3 printer (replaced due to not printing black) came with a suppliment document for action if no black or faint print appears!!:
verify paper is loaded into paper tray then press and hold the Cancel and Copy/Resume buttons simultaneously until the On/Off light flashes -apparently this fixes the no black/faint issue.
hope this helps
