Question about Toshiba Astaro Z310 Server

Name of Command Interpreter

I have a Toshiba laptop, which was working fine, until I inserted a diskette to copy a file.
Now the laptop will not open Windows. When I turn the machine on, it briefly flashes the Toshiba logo and Windows98 logo and then says:
type the name of Command Interpreter. (e.g. C:WINDOWSCOMMAND.COM) If I type that, nothing happens. It comes back and says, type the name........
Please help. What is it I need to type so that it will open Windows for me and show the desktop? My e-mail address is below.
Thanking you in advance,
Abe.

    Dear Bubbabear64,

Thank you very much for your suggestion..

By the way, my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 2545XCDT with Windows 98 preloaded. It was never connected to the Internet or used for gaming. Was used as a Word processor.

I tried the DOS commands I know at the C> prompt. Nothing works. It comes back saying, type the name of the Command Interpreter..... or gives me a C> prompt again.

So, I cant find out if there is an Autoexec.bat

Do you have a autoexec.bat on the root directory on you server that has a path to C:\windows in it?

If it is there then reinstall the operating system. It has crashed. It's an old error message that was used when DOS was needed to be installed before loading windows.

Unfortunately you need to have an installer of the windows. If you do not have a recovery dish I suggest you download the ISO of windows 7 from here: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/ and then burn it on a DVD to make an installer disk. Then insert this disk in the computer you need to reset Follow through until you get to the option to open the Command Prompt, which you'll want to select.
First you'll want to type in the following command to backup the original sticky keys file:
copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\
Then you'll copy the command prompt executable (cmd.exe) over top of the sticky keys executable:
copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe
Once you get to the login screen, hit the Shift key 5 times, and you'll see an administrator mode command prompt.
Now to reset the password-just type the following command, replacing the username and password with the combination you want:
net user geek MyNewPassword.
hat's all there is to it. Now you can login.
Of course, you'll probably want to put the original sethc.exe file back, which you can do by rebooting into the installation CD, opening the command prompt, and copying the c:\sethc.exe file back to c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe.

Regards
David

Qosmio g15 recovery disk error

If the discs are clean and pretty much scratch free, then this is most likely a bad hard drive. If you have another PC or laptop, try burning copies of the recovery cds and then use those. If the problem remains, you will need a new hard drive.
