I want to print on both sides of the paper

The Brother HL-2040 machine does not have and cannot be fitted with a duplexer to print both sides of the page automatically. You can only duplex manually, that is - you turn the page over and put it back in the machine to print on the other side. Some settings will allow to print double sided manually, where the printer prints all the odd numbered pages then instructs the user to place ALL the printed stock back in the paper tray to then print all the even numbered pages.

Hi. I have a Canon IR2018 printer in my office. Because I am eco-wise I would like to set it from single to double sided printing (I think that's the term for printing on both sides of the paper) but...

you can do so if your machine has a duplex unit attached.if it has a duplex unit then for printing you have to select 2 sided profile as default or for prints when u want double sided from you pc print software(canon) or the server if you have one .that way u will get all the prints in 2 sided. for copying u have to select 2 -2 sided by pressing the 2sided key on the console of the copier.then place the originals in the ADF and thats all

Right hand side of page has 1-1/2 inch horizontal streaks down the side

The scanning bar has 28 leds on it and on my 4100 the 6 leds on the right side were flashing on and off,it could be abad connection on that part of the scanning bar caused by a jamed paper.
to tell if your machine is a printing problem or a scanning problem print out the help menu {press the reports key then the 1 key} if it prints clear then every thing with the print cartrige is ok and the problem is in the scanning part of the machine.

You make no mention of make or model is hard to help.
If your machine is not capable of duplex printing then the only way to get print on both sides is to put the paper back in the cassette a second time to print onto the second side.

How do you print on both sides of a sheet of paper

Unless you are using a duplex "Multifunctional" copier(with fax.) most plain fax. machines are not duplex and will only print on one side of the page.
If you have a machine capable of rx duplex printing please specify make and model for additional help.

My manual was in a strange language. How do I

Your manual can be found here.

Printing on both sides of paper You can print on both sides of a paper; duplex. Before printing, decide how you want your document oriented. You can only use this feature with Letter, Legal, A4, US Folio, or Oficio sized paper.

Do not print on both sides of the special media, such as labels, envelopes, or thick paper to print on both sides of paper. It may cause a paper jam or damage the machine.
  1. To change the print settings from your software application, access Printing Preferences. (See Opening Printing Preferences.)
  2. Click the Layout tab.
  3. From the Double-sided Printing section, select the binding option you want.
    • Printer Default: If you select this option, this feature is determined by the setting you’ve made on the control panel of the machine.
    • None
    • Long Edge: This option is the conventional layout used in bookbinding.
    • Short Edge: This option is the conventional layout used in calendars.
    • Reverse Double-Sided Printing: Check this option to reverse the print order when duplex printing.
  4. Click the Paper tab, select the Paper Options.
  5. Click OK or Print until you exit the Print window.

If your machine does not have a duplex unit, you should complete the printing job manually. The machine prints every other page of the document first. After that , a message appears on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printing job.

Good Luck!

Error code 07,010.43:9352

Yeah they do that on their site, Drives people crazy.
What that code means is your print head is not moving side to side or front to back. There are 2 primary causes. I will cover them for you.
1, Did you have a power failure? Or otherwise shut the machine off improperly. If so, try and power off and power on the machine several times. There is a cleaning blade between the drum and print head that will tack to the print head if the machine power is interrupted. Often times letting it reset and warm up a bit will release the blade from the print head. Reason I ask that is I know there was a lot of wind last night knocking out power all over the country.
Now, if that did not happen, here is what to do.
First there is a print head block. Looking from the front of the machine it is located on the left side. You will have to remove the left side cover, one screw on back, one on front and you have to lift and twist some to release the tabs on the covers. About 2/3rds of the way back, near the bottom of the will see a stainless steel block, about 1 inch square, That block often times becomes contaminated with spill over ink. It is the result of the machine not sitting level either front to back or side to side. There is a metal clip with a spring , that puts pressure on the print head shaft ot move sideways. If you see a lot of ink build up in that block. Slip that spring off, take some channel lock pliers and remove the print head block. Soak it in some hot water to soften up the ink and thoroughly clean the block and print head shaft. Also remove as much of the excess ink that you can in that print block area. Then when done. LEVEL the machine. Easiest way is to plave a level on the platin glass and make sure its sitting level both front to back and side to side.
Now the print head wiper blade mentioned first. That takes a little more time to get to. You have to remove the right and left side covers, then the ink loader must come out, That is where you place the ink sticks. It is held in with plastic tabs on each side the you release and pull up and out. There are 2 connectors on the ink loader also. Once you get that out, you have access to the print head/drum area. Look between the drum and print head for a pinkish color blade and gently detack it from the print head. Then run the remove light stripes and also run the remove smears mode.
One of those 2 will more than likely resolve that problem, I would say at least 95 percent of the time one of those 2 issues will resolve the problem. There is a clutch that drives the wiper blade that I have seen fail. but try the first 2 and let me know what happens.
