Question about Emerson Smartset Clock Radio

Wrong time on Emerson Smart Set clock

I have 2 clocks. One is 5 minutes off and the other is 10 minutes off. I know I can manually change the time, but don't think I should have to do this. Unplugging and replugging no help. Why is this happening? And how can I fix it ??

This is a problem with the clocks tuning crystal. Digital clocks have a crystal that is tuned to run at a certain frequency to keep the clock working correctly. These clocks have a problem with that crystal keeping the frequency locked at the correct working frequency. This problem will sometimes cause the clocks to run fast due to a running frequency higher than the regulated frequency and sometime slow due to a running frequency running lower than the regulated frequency. The only way to fix this problem is to either adjust the crystals frequency to the correct frequency and lock it. Or change the crystal. Both these types of service require tools and test equipment to fix the problem. This is usually best handled by a service center. The Emerson customer support telephone number is 1-800-898-9020. Give them the make and model number of your clock radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

How do I set the Chimes on the Ergo Westminster Clock

The controls on the back of the Ergo brand Wall Chime Clock are different than that of the Seiko. I'm not sure who makes the movement - probably Chinese or Asian. Anyway, always take the pendulum off the hook before moving the clock about as it can damage the mechanism. On the back, there is a dial for adjusting the time setting of the clock hands, which is awkward to use, but does work, easiest to leave it alone and use the minute hand, NEVER the hour hand. There is a dial for volume. There is a switch for type of chime - Westminster or Wittington. There is the night-time shut off or volume reduction. Some models have a switch for chiming every quarter hour. My advice is make sure you have fresh batteries, and set the switches on the back for the settings you want. Hang the clock, grasp the pendulum arm and re-hang the pendulum, making sure it's hooked in properly. Now, whatever the hands say the time is, ignore it for now, and gently move the minute hand backwards, slowly, to about 5 minutes before the top of the hour, then forwards to a couple of minutes past the top of the hour. This will cause the chimes to start. Let the melody play, then listen for how many "clangs" you get. That will tell you what the clock thinks the time is. For example, if it "dongs" 5 times, and you've set it to run silent at night, the clock thinks it's 5 p.m. If it's actually only 3:15 p.m., then gently run the minute hand backwards til the hands indicate about 10 minutes behind the correct time (it'll take you several minutes to complete the process) then gently move the minute hand back to about 5 minutes before the top of the hour, then forward to a few minutes past, and the chime will start to play the melody. If you let it, it will play out the full melody, then it will "clang" one more time than your previous test. Each time you move the minute hand back to 5 minutes before the hour, it advances the chimes by one hour. Here's a tip - you don't have to let the melody and "clangs" play fully, each time, once you know how it works. If you have it set to run silent at night (pre-programmed to silence after 10 p.m. to 6 p.m.), keep moving the minute hand back to 5 minutes before the hour, keeping track of how many times you've done it until you reach 10 p.m., or not, until you get to the point where you move the minute hand back and there's silence. At that point, the auto-silence mechanism is active, and the clock thinks it 11 p.m. So, from that point, keep repeating the process of gently moving the minute hand back and forth, from about 5 minutes to the hour, to a few minutes past, keeping track of how many times you've done it. After 8 sequences, you hear it start to chime again, at 6 a.m. So, at that point, go through the back-up and advancing of the minute hand sequence 9 more times, and on the 9th time, let the melody play, and let in "clang" to determine that you're indeed at 3 p.m., which you should be. Then simply gently advance the minute hand to the correct time, 3:10, 3:12, whatever, and you're done. You'll know for certain soon enough.

Manual Time Adjustments
Some people like to set their clocks 5 to 10 minutes fast to make sure that they will alwaysbeontime.EventhoughtheSmartSet® setsthetimebyitself,youstillhave the option of adjusting the time manually if you wish.
To manually adjust the time display depress and hold the TIME button, and press either the SET (Up) or SET (Down) buttons to adjust the time display ahead or back as desired.
Each press of the SET (Up) or SET (Down) buttons will change the display by one minute.
If you hold the SET (Up) or SET (Down) buttons the display will continue to change. The display will change slowly at first, one minute at a time.
But if you continue holding the SET (Up) or SET (Down) buttons the display will change rapidly.
Note:If you manually adjust the time, your new setting is entered into the SmartSet® memory. If the power is interrupted, the display will return to your new setting, not the original setting, when the power is restored.

Set time on Touch Screen Thermo Clock

Hi there,

Just in case you didn't manage to set the time / date on your tocuh screen thermo clock, I'll try to help you from my experience (no available manual at the moment!).

1. To set the time, touch the clock icon on the upper left corner;
2. Keep touching the screen for longer than 5 seconds, on the hour area;
3. Touch the hour area until you get what you want (if you prefer the 24 hour display style, touch repeatedly until you get the right hour without the AM / PM indicator next to it);
4. Touch the clock icon again to start the clock;
5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to set up the minutes (the hour area will be replaced by the minutes area);
6. To set the date, tocuh the calendar icon on the left hand side;
7. Keep touching the screen for longer than 5 seconds, on the year area;
8. Touch the year area until you get what you want;
9. Touch the month area until you get what you want;
10. Touch the day area until you get what you want;
11. The screen will reverse to the time display after 5 seconds if no touch.
12. The TEMP (temperature) area, if touched, is toggling between C and Fahrenheit degrees.

P.S. I don't know if it is possible to set an earlier time / date, except touching. I mean, if 2009 is on the screen and you want 2007, you'll keep touching up to 2030 and then from 1901 up to 2007.

Hope it helped.

No numbered touch pad for use setting clock

I think on this one you press the CLOCK/TIMER pad, then enter the desired time using the 10 MINUTES, 1 MINUTE, AND 15 SECONDS pads then press CLOCK/TIMER again.

If that doesn;t work, press STOP / CLEAR then try the above again.

Let us know if it does not work.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Brookstone smart set alarm clock. It is about 20minutes ahead

I've noticed that manually setting the clock forward or back by any number of minutes, results in the same time offset being displayed after unplugging - plugging back in. So, if it's 9pm and you set if 5 minutes fast (9:05pm). Then unplug it and plug it back in 30 minutes later (9:30pm), the clock will maintain your setting of 5 minutes ahead of the actual time (9:35).

I like to set my clocks 5 minutes fast, just to make me always think I'm running a bit late (sure, maybe I'm a bit crazy). But this "sticky" manual setting is kind of a nice feature in my opinion. I'm wondering if it's not intentional?

Anyway, just manually set it back to the real time, and it sho
