It should if it was in a dry clean place. Put film in it and see what happens. You can buy film on Ebay.

Whitehall-bo,
give it a try, the batteries come with the film,so if it was stored high & dry it's probably good. polaroid pack should still be around. they stopped making polaroid camera's and film.

Do you still make the 600 film for the polaroid one step auto focus camera

FixYa don't, as FixYa has never made any tangible products of any description.

Polaroid don't either, they ceased production a few years ago and all remaining stocks are (even more) expensive and will no longer work except in modified cameras as the built-in film batteries are now flat.

But you can get newly manufactured compatible photo packs from The Impossible Project. Click the link for details, but please bear in mind that this material is best thought of as being a different medium to the original which works in your camera. It does not produce the same results as the original film, but can produce some effects which were difficult to achieve with the original material. The website gives details, but the main one is that the film is nowhere near as fade resistant: either scan the images you wish to keep or buy their new Dry Age (dehydration) kit to preserve original images. Also you only get 8 shots per pack compared to the original 10 as the new material is slightly thicker so only 8 photos fit into the cartridge.

Please take a moment to rate my answer, and post a comment if anything I've typed needs further explanation.

My daughter bought a Polaroid One Step camera at a yard sale, but the battery is dead. Is there a way to change the battery?

Polaroid OneStep cameras have the battery built-in to the film back. If you are using Polaroid 600 film, simply change the film cartridge.

Polaroid 600 Camera, won't take a picture.

How old is the film in it?

Polaroid film packs have a battery included (a polarpulse powercell, I think).

If its an old film, the battery can go flat and as far as I'm aware there's no way to get power in to it.

I would take the cartridge out, (effectively not use the last shot), try a new cartridge to see if its working properly, then send the old cartridge back to Polaroid, if you think its faulty.

Hi,

The SX70 film pack contains the battery that allows the shutter to activate. Unfortunately you may have a difficult time finding it. Below are a couple links with some good SX70 info. The second one even has a link to the user guide in PDF format. I think the Q-light was on some of the One Step cameras. is that what you have?

Thanks for using Fixya. Good luck.

I did find a site that sells the film...at $24.50 a pop!

You may find some additional info there too.

How do we find battery component on old Polaroid camera...

Each film cartridge contains a new battery. Every time you replace the film, you get a new battery.

Now the bad news...
As of June 2008, Polaroid no longer makes film. The last of what was produced is expiring in 10/2009.

The hopeful news...
Polaroid may be licensing other companies to manufacture film again (after 2009) and another group is hard at work trying to produce a similar film for these cameras (http:\\www.the-impossible-project.com). But don't expect any of this to be available any time soon.

Look to the upper edge of the slot that the film is in. You should find a thin black lip that flaps. Pull on it to remove the empty film box.

there is no battery in the camera. the battery comes from the film. the film has a battery in it already. you MUST have film in the camera for the light to go on and the flash to go off. all polaroid camera's are the same. you must have the film in the camera for it to work.

Help with Polaroid 600 film choices & how to use One Step Cameras

the flash will work when you put film in. the film has a battery and the camera works off the battery in the film. the arrows make the picture dark or light.
the polaroid spectra onyx made in 1987 is a totally sharp and beautiful looking camera. you also can put filters on the front of it. this camera was used by law enforcement many years ago so it is made very steardy and well. i own one myself and the pictures are perfect everytime. look this camera up on Ebay, you will not be disappointed.

also, here is a website for you to look up film information
polaroids.theskeltons.org

this website will have everything you need and more
