You dont have to go to the store however the only way to quickly get you back into your phone is to do a hard button reset on your phone which will reset the entire phone and anything not saved will be erased. (no other way around it if its a pw that you forgot) Turn the phone first. press and hold the left and right soft keys on your keypad (soft keys have the - sign on it above your red end key and green send button) While holding these two buttons down press your power button for 1 second. Keep holding in on thos two buttons while your phone turns on until you see a black and white message on your screen that will basically tell you that your phone is about to be reset. Release the soft keys and press your green send button to initiate the reset

Re: key pad is locked
Have you set your own specific lock code? the original lock codes for phones usually are things like "0000" and "1234" or they are the last 4 digits of your cell phone number. If you know you set your own specific password then try taking your battery out and resetting your phone by pushing the little button under where the battery was, out the battery back in place and when your phone starts up yous password might have reverted back to an manufacturer password like the ones listed above. If all else fails then yes take your phone in to t-mobile and they should be able to do a quick fix for you :) hope this helps

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :- This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone. They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone. Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service. The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services.Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code”. The IMEI number is unique the each mobile phone. The number is printed on the label under the battery. You can also get the IMEI number by entering this on your phone *#06# It will then display your IMEI number and you may also get a unique global serial number. Your IMEI number should be 15 digits.
If it is a network lock you need to contact you're service provider for the unlock code.
If it is a key pad lock kindly enter wrong password for 10 time's you're handheld will get wiped. Then it will ask for the reset password enter the new password and remember that. (No data will be available when your Handheld is wiped)
A restriction code is numeric code (password) that prevents a user from accessing certain technical settings of a phone. It is specifically designed to prevent a phone from being reprogrammed to work with a different carrier (service provider).
This is what is usually meant when a phone is referred to as "locked". There are also "unlocked" phones that can be reprogrammed to work with a different carrier.
The reason for this system is the way phones are often sold. Many phones are sold below cost, (at a loss to the carrier,) with the expectation that the money will be recouped in the cost of the monthly service plan. The up-front loss that is later recouped is called a Subsidy.
For this to work financially for the carrier, the user must not buy the phone and then use it with a different carrier. The MSL makes that nearly impossible.
Unlocked phones are ususally much more expensive than locked phones, because there is no subsidy to offset the cost.
You should ask the operator for the restriction code
