My washer worked yesterday, today It will not fill when you turn it on, however if you run the cycle a bit further it will agitate and spin. I checked the water supply and the screens on the back side. When you put it in fill mode, you can hear a buzz sound. What can I do?

Re: my Roper won't fill with water.
You need to replace the water inlet valve on the washer that the hoses go on,it is stuck closed, have you tryed hot water only to see if it comes out?the valve has a hot and cold water supply valve, you can get one by going to sears .com click on parts out in your model number and order your part, let me know if you want to try it and i will tell you how to get into the cabinet-mike

this sound's like a faulty or clogged water valve. Do get the same symptom when selecting cold water in a wash cycle ? I suspect you will. Turn your water off, remove the cold water hose and make sure it is not clogged either at the valve end ( you may need to clean the fine screen ) or the tap end. If it's all clear, you will likely require a water fill valve. Original part number # 285805 and it is usually about $20-$25.

The contacts for the outlet pump have fused together in the programmer so that as soon as you apply power the pump motor starts running.
Remove the power first
Quick check is to take off the back panel locate the pump and remove one of the supply leads
put some insulating tape around the end of the lead you have taken off in case it shorts out then put the power back on and try the machine, it should then fill and start to agitate .
If that works then you need a new programmer .
Turn off the power , replace the lead and then put the machine back on to drain out the water
Hi, You need to reset the drain hose. It needs to be over the water level in the machine. If you have it in a sump pump, it needs to be out of the water in the sump. If I can help you further, please let me know
