I had the same problem for my E250 Sandisk it froze. If all else fails I suggest removing the back plate of the mp3 , remove the battery then re-installed the battery, put plate back again and re-start your mp3. It should start fine it worked for me. But thank you Karla G. for your suggestion.

Slide the on/off switch up and hold for 15-20 seconds. The player will turn off. Simply turn it back on. The player will be reset.

See, the problem for mine is that it keeps turning on, but it won't go completely on, it turns on, then freezes, and turns on again. When I hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, it just turns off. And when I try turning it on again, it does the same thing as before.

Unscrew the back and take out the battery and then it will turn off then put it back on and screw the back back on

I had a similar problem it helps if you just let it die but that takes to long. if you just take the battery out and put it back in it resets.

My Westrend U2 mp3 player hangs..when I switched to ON, it's just lighting and won't continue..Now I totally can't use it!!! I can't tried Karla's solution of pressing the power ON for 15 seconds because with my mp3, you switch it ON by sliding to ON and not by pressing..
Hope anybody out there can help me reset this mp3 player...thanks

I must say, holding down the power button on my Sansa Rhapsody 280e Player saved the day! Thank you, Karla! My screen had frozen in the "updating database mode" and I could not turn off the unit, nor did switching the hold button. I think my microSD card may have slid out of its port during this process. When I got home, I backed up all of my files from the card onto my PC and held down the power button for about 15 seconds. The unit turned off and then rebooted successfully. I put the card back in and everything is back to normal. :-)

This helped me alot, i just got my player, studying for exams, and i got my voice recordings frozen, and I almost stepped on my player I was so mad and fruztrated. I did a search for a reset button, and found this message. It was nice he took the time, and saved me my time etc etc.

Thanks Karla for this really great solution of yours. it really helped me a lot. got very much dejected that the player did not respond as its jus a week old. and one more advice for the other users is that do not charge it in a.c.. charge the player in p.c. alone!!

My problem was that my player wouldn't turn ON, even after I charged it for more than an hour. I held the power button down for 15-20 seconds, let go, and then I just touched it on, and it came on. Thanks for giving me the idea! Mike M., SLC
