Re: I have no red in my tv
In most cases your problem will be with the red crt or the red driver pcb. The crt or "picture tube" should be replaced by a tech. The red driver pcb is easier and you might be able if you know a little about tv's. You can try one other thing first. Pop off the front grill cover. Take out the 4 or 6 screws that hold on the cover that is in the dead center of the area that you just uncovered. Inside there you will find the 3 crt's. At the end of the crt's you will find the driver pcb's. Make sure they are on tightly and that the cables on the driver pcb's are seated tightly (with the tv off). Now take a flashlight and look for a black square pieace, about 3 to 4 inches square. There will be 6 small knobs on it. 3 are focus and 3 are screen controls. Find the one that is for "red screen". Turn the tv on. Turn this control clockwise and see if the red comes back. If it does great, switch the tv's input to an input that does not have anything on it, so that the screen is black, and turn that red control to the piont that the red is not visable. If this does not get the red back, then you will have to replace the parts that I have told you about.

Normal color picture is composed with 3 colors R-G-B (Red-Green-Blue). Picture turns Red means: Missing Green and Blue colors (many reasons: bad contacts, projector tubes dead, and other...). Try to give some "tabs" to diagnose ... I don't know what is the type of your Projection TV, how long you owned it, to have more idea.
If one color goes out of control, the TV will auto turn off for safety reasons. Sounds like a red bias resistor has burned out. A tech will be needed to trace this problem. Sometimes there is a knob behind the front TV speaker panel for adjusting the color bias levels. You could try to mess with it if you are able to find it. I would just get a tech. Could be a cheap repair.
same problem. TV turns on but no picture or sound. when i press power button on the remote control orange light flashes for about a minute and goes back to red.

convergence amp ic bad Sony Convergence http://www.techlore.com/blog/entry/19694/Sony-Convergence-Repair-My-Sony-TV-has-a-distorted-picture-/ http://www.techlore.com/article/19631/Sony-Convergence-Procedure/
Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red, blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.
I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce
