Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a samsung DVD Home Theater System HT-WX70. My son put a cd copy in the DVD player and PROTECTION flashed on the player and it turned off. I turned the player back on and took the cd out. Everything was fine. 15min later the DVD player flashed PROTECTION and turned off again with out anything in it. The DVD player wont stay on for more then 15 min max, and the problem was so bad i unhooked the cords and hooked it back up. Same problem. I reset everything and still 15min max. How can i resolve my problem? How can i get the PROTECTION to stop turning off my home theater?

If it is, the protection message usually meant either a speaker had blown, or more commonly a wire to a speaker had come disconnected or broken/shorted.

Try unplugging the speakers one at a time, and if you have a set of speakers of the same rating to try, try plugging them in as you remove the originals (obviously doesn't need to be done in the setup positions in the room, just have them beside the player to check it works.)

This might then identify which speaker or cable is the problem one for you to replace or repair.

If this is the speaker overload/short mesaage as I think it is and the above doesn't cure it, it would appear the amplifier board has a short somewhere and that's an electronics engineer job time
Hope it helps!

My Samsung HT-40 home theater system throws itself into protection mode and shuts down. I put a new fan motor in but it insists on shutting down anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes of operation. No dust...

The fan is going bad and if you have replaced it try to open the case and remove the cover over all the capaciters and what not and replace that fan in the back then cut a hole in the top of the metal case directly about the cap's that warm up and install a aditional fan to act as a chimney a little noisy but i did this and the player had been runing in aux and radio mode for a few days stright now no problems at all it's alot of work and skill but for 2 5-15 dolar fans sure beats the 160 for repair or buying a new recever! make sure u turn on the recever for 10 min if the fan is not turning by then its still not good

My home theatre system (sAmsung DVD home theatre system HT-Tx75)shuts down automatically after 10 minutes of listening to the radio...it says 'protection', then shuts off. i checked to see if it was on...

Hello,
Protection mode on a Samsung player most likely means that the unit is overheating due to a non or low functioning fan. Before taking it somewhere to be serviced turn the unit on and see if the fan in the back is functioning (it should be on whenever the unit is on). If it is not you can try gently blowing it out with a can of compressed air.
I am sure that you can have it serviced but it might be cheaper to purchase a new player.
Good luck and take Care,
-WN
