Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an Acer notebook which is stuck on page 3 of 3 on an update since a power cut. There is no recovery disk and all options have been exhausted in the re-boot option. Any help would be grateful as I am technologically challenged.

Thanks for trying but have attempted to re-boot the system on numerous occasions, attempting to use all the recovery devices installed with the notebook and even tried returning it to it's factory settings but still nothing works. Help please!!!

You can, if available, purchase a Recovery disk from Acer. That said, if you have a Recovery Partition, By rebooting and using the restore/recovery ALT+ F-10 keys. On page 59 : http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/acer/0000/userguides/TM4200-ENG-OLM_1207.pdf and this may be useful: http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=2&modelId=774 IF you are doing a Factory recovery on a XP Machine, I would put on a pot of coffee. I recently did the same, with hundreds of Windows and Computer manufacturer's update it took 36 hours stright. Good Luck.

How do i reset my laptop back to factory settings

The disc that you should have received with the laptop should give you this option. Just put it in and reboot and it will bring you to a menu with a few different recovery options to choose from.

I just restarted my HP and now it says there is no hard drive and I dont have a recovery disk

try disconnecting the drive and reseating it first.

If you enter the bios (f10 on startup) does the computer even detect the drive? If not - try reseating it - don't forget to power off first

Failing that try the hp recovery partition
1
Press the power button to start the HP. Press and hold the F11 key to launch the HP Recovery Manager from the recovery partition.
2
Backup any files you want to save. Follow the HP Recovery Manager instructions to save any important files before continuing with the recovery process.
3
Continue the recovery process. After backing up files to an external device or CD/DVDs, select the option to perform a system recovery.
4
Obtain and install updates for the HP. After your system reboots, use HP update manager as well as Windows update to restore all critical updates to your HP computer.
5
Make a set of recovery disks. Use HP Recovery Manager and select "Advanced Options" to create a set of recovery disks that can be used in the event that your HP cannot access the hard drive.

I need a acer aspire one happy recovery disk

The Acer Aspire One Netbook has a hidden partition on its hard disk drive which allows recovery of
1. operating system to original factory image (with no recovery disk required)
2. applications (selectable)
3. drivers (selectable)
If the netbook came with pre-installed Windows XP, use Acer eRecovery Management by
1. pressing start button at bottom left corner of Taskbar
2. hover cursor over All Programs then Acer Empowering Technology
3. then click on Acer eRecovery Management and follow subsequent recovery instructions
Alternatively, on powering up, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.
If this doesn't work, there is the possibility that the D2D recovery is not enabled for startup.
To enable D2D recovery,
1. press F2 on powering up to get into the startup utility
2. cursor over to the Main tab
3. cursor down to D2D and enable it.
4. save changes when exiting - system will reboot
5. again, press Alt and F10 together while Acer logo is showing.

Hello i went to restore my acer and now it's stuck when i turn it on first you see acer screen then it goes to starting acer recovery management then windows xp screen and then it says please wait then it...

Follow the steps below,

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that that screen but you end up reaching the blue screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Last know good configuration".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER.
Step 6: your PC will boot to the windows.
