Please teach me how to use my HPF4185 to print envelopes.
Thanks.
Hi
Use the product software, also known as the printer driver, to change the print settings for your envelope size and type. Then, use the Envelopes and Labels tool in Microsoft Word to select your envelope size.
Step one: Adjust the print settings
-In Microsoft Word, click File , and then click Print .
-Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then click Properties .
-Click the Features tab, or the Paper/Quality tab.
-Select an envelope size from the Size drop-down list.
-If the required paper size is not in the drop-down list, follow these steps to create a custom paper size.
-Select Custom from the drop-down list.
-In the Custom Paper Size dialog box, type a name for the new custom size.
-In the Width and Height boxes, type the dimensions.
-Select the unit of measurement, and then click Save .
-Click OK to close the Custom Paper Size dialog box, and then click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.
NOTE: You must exit the Properties dialog box to apply your changes.
Open the Properties dialog box again, and select the new custom size from the Size drop-down list.
-Select the paper type.
-In the Paper Type or Type is drop down list, click More .
-Click the desired paper type, and then click OK .
-Select the paper source from the Paper Source drop-down list.
-Change any other settings, and then click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
Step two: Set the correct envelope size
-Set the correct envelope size in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box before printing envelopes.
-In Microsoft Word, click Tools , click Letters and Mailings , and then click Envelopes and Labels .
-In the Envelopes and Labels dialog box, click the Envelopes tab.
-Click Options .
-From the Envelope size drop-down list, select the required paper size. If you created a custom paper size, select the new custom paper size from the drop-down list.
-Click OK , and then click Close to close the Envelopes and Labels dialog box.
-Click File , and then click Print to print the envelope.
NOTE: When you finish printing the envelopes, return the paper size and the paper type settings to the defaults.

For some reason the make and model of the my printer isn't showing up. It's an HP Photosmart C6280. And my Windows drivers were installed on 4/30/2012.
No, this solution wasn't helpful because the make and model of my printer didn't show up--its an HP Photosmart C6280. And my Window 7 drivers had just been installed on April 30, 2012, so they're up-to-date. I think I need an HP solution.
OK. Let HP solve your problem by clicking on the following link:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/produ...
This problem has been solved through an earlier (2010) post on Solution Forum, as follows:
Click the Microsoft emblem in the lower left corner of the desktop
Click Devices and Printers
Single left click the printer icon
In the bar just below the File, Edit, etc. menu bar, click the Print Server Properties
In the Forms tab, go down to the Create a new form box and check it
In the box above it, give the size a Form name
Fill in the desired paper height and width and click OK
Back in the print menu, this custom size will be found under More in the Sizing Option box
Voila!
