You need to boot your computer then look and see if there is a Recovery Partition on the hard drive. Click Start/My Computer and see if there is a Recovery Partition listed. Some times the partition might be hidden so check your owners manual and see what it says about recovery.

Have you tried doing a system restore to a restore point (date and time) before you started having problems? It's much better than System Recovery because you won't loose any data. Click Start/Program/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

SOURCE: restore factory settings

You need to do a new windows setup, erasing completely existing system. I do not know if you can do this from Vista upgrade. You may need to install from a bootable Windows setup disk first, and then install vista upgrade. Once you install the system you may need to download drivers. Here is Toshiba drivers page.

regards.

Login with an administrator-level username and password. Click "OK. Select "Dell Factory Image Restore," then "Next." Click on "Finish" after the computer has concluded the factory restoration. b> Restore on an HP b> Insert the HP recovery disk. Restart the computer, and press the "F11" key. Press the "F" key to "reinstall factory settings." If your computer's operating system is damaged, you may only see "perform a full system recovery" as an option. In this case, press "R." Hi i need to restore my Phillips iqor computer to factory settings as i am getting rid if it and don't want to leave my personal information on it

You don't have to go thru all that trouble to get rid of your personal information. First just create a new user account with administrative rights that the person who is getting your computer will use. After you create the new user account reboot the computer and log on with the new account you created. Then Delete your old user account. It will delete all your documents, music, pictures, videos.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts then create the new user account with Administrative Rights (not limited).

Reboot and and log on with the user account you just created.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Account and select the account you want to delete and Delete it. When asked about files to save, you want to delete everything associated with the account you are deleting.

If you have more than one user account you want to delete, do the same thing for it.

Im trying to get my pc to go to its original settings factort restore

The only way to restore your computer to factory setting with all the software/bloatware as it came with your computer the first day you start it up, you will need the factory restore disk that came with the computer if one is provide, if not usually with e-machine product, which doesn't provide you with a factory restore disk, you will have to create one yourself using a dvd-r. Usually you will have to go the the emachine recovery/back up management option in your menu programs and use that program to make the factory restore disk, after making that disc, you will need to insert the disc, and shuit down the computer and restart it. It will prompt you to follow direction once the factory restore disk is boot up. Follow the directions and you should be good to go. If there isn't a recovery managment program or a factory restore disk provided, you will need to contact emachine up.... usually they can send you factory restore disk for a small fee.

I want to take my acer aspire back to the factory setting but dont have a cd how do i do it

Acer are cheap and they don't provide you with a factory restore disk. You need to make this factory disk yourself. I know how to do this, but it is to much for me to type and here is a really really good reference site for you to visit to get instruction to make your own factory restore disk. After making that restore disc,  pop the disk into your laptop and turn of your laptop and restart and the factory restore program should start, if it should not start then go into your bios menu and have it boot from your Dvd-Rom and save, after full restoration, make sure you turn your boot priority back to where your Os is being installed, exm hard drive.

Restore my laptop

Some computers come with a "hidden" partition on the disk-drive, which can be launched to "restore to factory settings".

Or, you may have received a set of CD/DVD "System Restore" disks when you purchased the computer.

Or, contact ACER, and order a set of those "System Restore" disks to be courier-shipped to you.
