first put a new battery in it. then put your lanyard in the handle bar clip push the start button make sure that you have a life jacket on when your in the water and make sure that u attach the lanyard to your wrist or life jacket

what is it idle at? how much? remove your seat check air filter if is black oily remove it and see if that fixes your problem you may want to change your spark plugs as well # one cylinder may be starting to foul the new yamahas are the worst for fouling plugs use a cr8eb instead of the cr9eb the 8s are hotter and work better try those and let me know thank you

My 97 gp760 did this. I checked almost everything. Replace or clean your plugs, then run carb cleaner through your fuel filter both ways, and then spray carb cleaner into the fuel line from the fuel filter to the carbs. Run 10 minutes, more carb cleaner into the fuel line, and run it 15 more minutes. Then zip tie fuel lines at the fuel filter. I figure there was trash or buildup in the carb. Switch to reserve tanke to check to see if there is a clog at the fuel pickup in the tank.
My friend had the same issue with his waverunner 3.

pull out the cat temp sensor and check to see if its bent. if so then its definently your catalist, even if not bent chances are still good it has failed. you need to be sure which light is coming on. does it look like a tube with squigly lines going up?
