This document is located on HP's web site concerning purple tint on certain web-cams. This document pertains to certain HP Notebook PCs with Windows 7. When using an HP ENVY 15 notebook PC webcam in low light conditions, images on the webcam may have a purple tint. The ENVY 15 Series webcams include night vision technology that is designed to operate in normal lighting conditions and optimized to operate in low and zero light conditions. The webcam night vision feature includes two Infrared (IR) lights located on each side of the webcam and behind the display panel bezel. Low to zero light conditions will cause the webcam IR lights to activate. The IR lights provide illumination for low and zero light conditions and help prevent fuzzy images that are typically associated with operating standard webcams in low and zero light conditions. Turn off the webcam IR lights. While some degree of purple tint may be present under low light conditions, turning off the webcam IR lights will reduce and in certain cases eliminate the purple tint.
Select Start > All Programs > HP > HP MediaSmart > HP MediaSmart Webcam .
In HP MediaSmart Webcam, select Settings > Display > Advanced Settings , and then click the Camera Control tab.
Select the Low Light Compensation check box, and then click Apply .
Click OK .
NOTE:Disabling the webcam IR lights will cause display images to appear darker in low and zero light conditions. The webcam IR lights are also available on other webcam programs. Refer to the software Help for additional information. This document will be updated if additional information becomes available.
If the screen shows a picture but very faintly, the inverter is either not connected properly or faulty.
If there's nothing on the screen at all
1) Your screen is either not connected properly or faulty.
or 2) *********** board has a fault.
or 3) Your graphics card/chip has a fault.
You can connect your laptop to another screen using the VGA port on the back. You have to switch to the spare screen using the keyboard, usually Fn and another key. If the spare screen then shows a picture, *********** board and graphics card are OK, your screen is at fault or not connected properly.
Checking the connections to both the inverter and screen will require dismantling you laptop. If you go about this, ensure all power, including the battery is disconnected.
It might be your web cam software is not set up correctly - even though drivers are installed correctly. Scanners and cameras are the same - drivers recognize device but software has to be linked to it.
Try pressing the "Fn" and "esc" buttons on the keyboard both at the same time to turn the camera on or off. It may work or may not, but that is the way it is supposed to work. There have been a lot of problems with this web cam and yahoo messenger. The only other thing I can suggest is to contact Lenovo and see if they might have another driver that can resolve this.
first you properly install the Web Cam Software, then you open the Yahoo messenger and again access the web cam. I hope it will work fine. sometimes yahoo messenger not access to Web Cam, that time yahoo messanger not working properly.
Have tried updating the webcam driver? Check the manufacturers websites
for the latest update for your system. I also notice that your using
windows vista, so you may better look for the webcam driver that is vista compatible.
You may uninstall the web cam driver from the Device Manager then restart the Computer. After restarting the Computer, please reinstall the web cam driver. You may locate the Web cam driver under the Imaging Devices category in the Device Manager. If the issue persists then you may perform System Restore to restore the system files to the time when the web cam worked normally.
