Needs a new toner cartridge probably but the fuser rollers may be damaged as well usually if the lines are indented into the paper that means its the fuser roller if they just appear strait down the page then its the toner cartridge

The received fax is clean but when you send one out it has a black streak on it. Cool! So far so good. Makes sense because for sending, the fax scans the original document and parts of the scanning area could be dirty and so on. Therefore a black streak may appear. The same black streak would also appear when you make a copy, because the original document must also be scanned. Logical!
However for receiving faxes, the machine uses the internal memory and the print engine only, and the same applies to printing the transaction report, which comes from inside via the print engine. The scanner has no rol in either situation.
Sometimes you may see vertical streaks/black lines on the faxes you receive. Either your FAX/MFC's primary corona wire for printing may be dirty, or the sending party's fax scanner may be dirty. Clean your primary corona wire (see pages 13-18), or ask the sender to make a copy to see if the problem is with the sending machine. Cleaning the Drum Unit We recommend you place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering toner. 1 Carefully turn the drum unit upside down. 2 Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the tab from right to left several times. 3 Return the tab to the Home position ( ) before reinstalling the drum unit.
There is a little scanner in the fax machine that reads the page so it can be sent out. You should be able to open the top, similar to changing the toner, and locate the scanner. This should have some glass over top protecting it. Just take a damp cloth and clean that piece of glass. There is most likely a small piece of dirt on the glass, but when it scans paper it looks like a big streak.
Hi my mom has a brother fax machine. When printing it puts a vertical line straight down the middle. It takes the carbon paper and I noticed underneath there is a black nob thing that sticks up and that is whats making this line why and what to do? Thanks vicky
