There really is no way around this. You will have to break something to get in. The easiest thing to do is to drill out the lock bolts or the lock cylinder nad unjamb it or take it off to gain entry. Sorry for the bad news. Thanks BB

The garage door goes down to about 10 inches off the floor, then re-opens and i get a flashing light which goes off 10 times

I think your garage door safety device has been bumped and is now out of proper alighment. Has it worked properly in the past? Check the alignment of the two boxes (one on either side of the door) to assure they see each other and not the door as it comes down.

The idea of the device is if the light wave is broken, (something goes through the door as it decends) the door reverses and goes back up.

Somewhere on the power head( motor ) is 2 knobs. The are to adjust up and down force. As the opener gets a little old you will need to turn these up occasionally! Turn to the right a 1/4 of a turn and try. I that doesn't work turn it up a little bit more. This should get you fixed up!

Is your door jammed or could the door be moved smoothly? If not then the motor might not be able to start and it flickers, try to press "+" for open or close (depends on whether the unit is going to close or open the door) once at a time and try to remote it, this will increase the open/close force and may overcome the issue. One more thing, do the photo-eye sensors give unobstructed with good indication?

You can use a long thin metal rod, like a welding rod to open the door.
Bend a "U" shape in one end of the rod. Slide the rod in between the door and the oven frame at the top center where the lock mechanism is located.
Do this from the left side facing the oven.
Pull on the rod to release the latch.
It may take several attempts.

Oven door locked

THIS IS NOT A STRANGE PROBLEM. Many times the lever that you move to lock door becomes slightly bent and it now will not travel completely to the unlock position (yet you can't tell just by looking) and it only needs to travel another 1/8 or 1/4 inch; you need to bend the handle in the oposite direction in order to get the extra clearance when moved to the unlock position. If this does not work, then you need to remove the burner top; some lift up, others need the individual burners removed (unscrewed) so the burner top can be lifted. Inside you will see a metal arm attached to the lever. This arm is either moved by a small servo-motor (geared rotation motor) or it is attached to a small micro switch or magnetic selenoid. You may need to disconnect the arm or rod from any of these components in order to move the lock lever and tereby release the lever tong from the door. Goodluck, Macgivor

My error message says FC the oven door is locked I tried unplugging but that did not work . The cleaning cycle was stopped right after it was accidently started.

The self clean option usually can't be stopped once its started. you may have to let it finish its cycle (a few hours) and see what happens from there. It also sounds like you could have a bad door sensor switch.

Self cleaning lock

a) Grabbing the handle, push the door in (like you are trying to force the thing all the way to the garage through the wall).

b) While doing this, hold down the clear/off button until the "door lock" light starts to blink like you are choking off the electricity that keeps it lit.

c) (This is the tricky part) Repeat step 2 - I mean "b" - until you really have killed the light, and the appliance gives off an audible clicking sound, signifying that it has been rendered open-able again.

Now you can open the door and .hope this helps

The lock on the oven wont disingage

you tried to force the lock either open or closed before it's cycle completed. Typically folks get the door handle bent, during cleaning. Take the top of the stove up, and take the handle assembly out. Most of the time you can simply put a vice or set of pliers on the handle to straighten it out.

I have an old(over 20 nyears) free standing magic chef model No. 177-31DB2 range. I put it on the cleaning cycle and everything seemed to be working well. But then it seemed like there was alot of smoke so...

WHEN THE DOOR IS LOCKED ON A SELF-CLEANING RANGE, AND THE TEMP GETS ABOVE 400 DEGREES, IT LOCKS THE LATCHING ASSEMBLY SO YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR AND GET SCORCHED. IF YOU FORCED THE HANDLE TO TRY TO OPEN IT, YOU BENT THE ARM OF THE LATCHING ASSEMBLY. IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE LATCH,
ONLY IF YOU FORCED IT TO THE OPEN POSITION, YOU MUST FORCE IT BACK TO THE LOCK POSITION TO STRAIGHTEN THE ARM.THEN IT MIGHT RELEASE.

IF YOUR RANGE HAS A LOCK BUTTON THAT NEEDS TO BE
PRESSED TO SLIDE THE LATCH TO THE LOCK POSITION,
YOU WILL HAVE TO SET ALL CONTROLS BACK INTO THE CLEAN POSITION AND PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON TO RELEASE THE LOCK ON THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. YOU SHOULD HEAR A BUZZING OR HUMMING SOUND WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED.
