Question about iiyama E431S-B 17" LCD Monitor

Open Question

Dead (?) Digital Input/Output

I am using two G4 Macs connected to one iiyama Prolite 431S 17" LCD Monitor. No hardware or software have been altered preceding this problem. The analogue connection is working perfectly. Problems with the digital connection, connected with DVI-D to DVI-D cable. Last month screen has been going black on and off; sometimes many hours without a flicker then goes black, and display reverts to analogue view of other computer. Display has now disappeared altogether; upon pressing "Input" button to change displays it just flashes for a second and returns to analogue view. Thought it was the cable as seemed to make difference when moved about; bought new cable - no change. Computer is fine - just can't see anything! Mightily confused so any advice appreciated, thanks.

Can't get my Iiyama Prolite E2407HDS out of test mode

from iiyama tech support (UK):
  1. Switch off the monitor.
  2. Connect all 3 input types with live connections (VGA + DVI + HDMI)
  3. Turn the monitor on.
It will select an input and display as normal.

I have tested this and it does work!
Good luck

I can't get any sound from the monitor the menu doesn't seem to switch the sound on

Did you connect an audio-cable from the "line-out" socket on your computer's sound-card to the "line-in" socket on the back of the monitor?

Screen resolution bad. I need drivers

The exact device-drivers you need depend on both the motherboard inside your computer, and the video-card inside your computer.
Without specific information on that hardware, the correct device-drivers cannot be identified.

Iiyama Prolite 434S monitor is too dark

Dim or dark display can be caused by a faulty inverter board or faulty CCFL lamp. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, the CCFL lamp is a miniture fluro tube and these dim with age.

PC monitor wont come on.

Check that the power cord is fully plugged in first.

It is probably the inverter board inside the monitor.
(if the screen does properly display ever then it is not the screen)
It CAN be fixed but I do not suggest anyone open up a monitor (LCD or CRT) who is not "technically inclined."

If you really want to fix this particular one then take it to a local tech and get an estimate first. If it's almost as much as a new monitor then buy a new one.

Screen keeps changing to different colours when i switch pc on

Have you tried checking that it's plugged in firmly to your CPU?

You might need to screw the caps on the side to ensure that's the case.
