Re: instructions on how to operate my HP DVD writer...
If you use Windows Media Player as your Music Player, then simply open Media Player, insert your blank CD and then on the side of the window there should be a tab called 'Copy yo CD or Device', Click on this. To put the songs you want on the CD, go to the drop down menu on the 'Items to copy' side and look for "All Music". There will be a small box on the side next to a song name and click on it to check the song if you wish to add it, or uncheck it for the song not to be added. A CD will on average fit about 20 songs so i would aim for this for each CD. Once you have selected your songs click the 'copy' button, which has a 'record' symbol beside it and your done.
Hope this helps you

You can buy a mobile enclosure for the dvd writer with a 12 V power adapter . Here is an example :http://eu.startech.com/HDD/Enclosures/USB-to-Slimline-SATA-CD-DVD-Optical-Drive-Enclosure~SLMSOPTB:
That's fine and all; I can imagine the DVD writer needs a powered hub to do any writing, though, so try that; but what exactly does the error message say, and what in the world can be saying that? USB is clearly a hotplug (any time) connection, though you could say what it's doing while 'sorting' if it does portend to do anything.
hi there, I will try to help you with the best of my capability. First, tell me how old is your writer? Second, switch off your PC, open it up and unplug the writer and replug it again. Maybe the connection was a bit loose. When you restart your PC, make sure that your PC recognises the connection of the Writer. let me know if it works out for you.
the computer should recognize it as a dvd-device though, if not windows is giving u trouble, so try using any other freeware burn program like nero or burnatonce to burn, u necessarily need the original software. to get anew copy of software email the manufacturer, then post send the cd in exchange for a newer one or look on th homepage if they have something fittng your drive- model and operation system ready to download...
There aren't any such drivers. The drive control protocols are standardized. Just do Windows Update a few times and make sure the thing's connected when you restart storage subsystems (pretty much a reboot; though installing Nero will of course get things going if you don't love Vista built-in tools.)
