Re: no picture

There seems to be an intermittant solder connection inside the set somewhere on the printed circuit board. If you have any soldering or solid state repair experience, open the set while its one, BUT please be carefull, and probe around the high voltage flyback transformer with a wooden tool or rod( a wooded spoon works good). If you have not had any experience with printed circuit boards and or solid state electronics, please call out a pro to assist you as a TV set is no place to be experiementing around inside of. The longer you let this go, the more it will end up costing you. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread.

Sony kv35s66: No picture, just sound and red blinking

This should be a quick fix. Try resoldering the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 11 pins. It should be marked LA7837 or something similar. That should resolve the problem.

Keep us posted.

Slow to come on, picture flashes black, 32" SONY tv

blankenship, the "IK circuit" is blanking your screen, only "fix" is temporary, remove back of tv, and on rear right side (facing into the back of the set) you can see 2 philips type plastic screws mounted on the flyback transformer, one is focus the other is screen, do not adjust focus , turn screen control clockwise slowly until you get white retrace lines on screen, then turn counterclockwise until retrace lines disappear, this increases drive from tube to IK circuit, will last anywhere from 6 months to 18 months and then it`s replacement time, questions? e-mail me back. good luck, BMW Rider

Set needs to be slapped to get a picture

TV's need a good slap once in a while to set them right! Just kidding. Sounds like you have a bad connection that once the set is warm it mends itself. Have a technician look at it.

Picture problem

Usually that symptom is caused by cracked solder joints on the vertical output IC. As the IC starts heating up, the picture starts breaking up at the top with several "dancing" dark lines appearing, the top scrunches down and then when the vertical quits altogether, the screen goes completely black. A good slap on the side of the TV might make it happen faster or clear it up temporarily. If you have experience working on PC boards then you can resolder the pins of the vertical output IC but if you have never soldered parts on PC boards then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
