Question about GE ® 3.5 Cu. Ft. King-Size Capacity Washer with Stainless Steel Basket WTRE6260FGG

Open Question

GE Washer intermittently stops 1/2 thru cycle

I have a GE Washer model#WTRE6260 about 2 1/2 years old. When using the About 75% of the time it will just stop at times during the cycle and not finish. It usually stops at the end of the wash cycle but ocassionally it will stop during the rinse cycle with the tub full of water. I'm thinking the electronics are messed up. I tried unplugging from power for several minutes like the book says but didn't help. (left it unplugged for a couple of hours once) Is there any way to tell for sure short of calling the service guy? Any other advice on how to fix or troubleshoot?
Thanks
Duaine

I'd suggest checking out some other posts regarding that model, here on fixya. Perhaps reviewing those will help troubleshoot/isolate the issue.

SOURCE: My GE Profile Washing Machine Keeps Stopping

Repair requires replacement of the transmission / break assembly. Unless you are really attached to this machine, it's time for a new machine. Average life of a washer is about 11 years doing 8 loads per week. Look into the front load machines, which use about 1/4 the water and spin about twice as fast, and are gentle on fabrics while cleaning very well. Please don't bother rating this, as non FixYa ratings drop my rating, and I'm sure you don't want to shoot the messenger.

SOURCE: ge profile wpre6150k1wt washer does not complete

Hi

First make sure to test the lid switch assembly, you can jump it to test it. If the lid switch and motor is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The lower seal is leaking. Over time the seal hardens and does not perform as it once did. Although this link is not your exact model the transmission is exactly the same. The seal that is leaking is item 756.

It is not a difficult task to change the seal. The hardes part is getting the old seal out that involves punching thru the old seal and prying it out after removing the drive pulley. Use a block of wood to gently tap the new seal in place.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

GE front load washer will not complete the rinse & spin cycle

1) 1st check the filter under the machine (it unscrews behind the access panel 2) open front door and pull back the rubber membrane to see metal and clean out the debris blocking drain holes 3) remove the drain hose from the machine (spring clip) and try and run water thru it and keep blowing out the junk and re-attach 4) run the machine thru 2 cleaning cycles w/bleach and without bleach 5) start using less detergent

Doesnt agitate or spin.

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and this worked for me

unplug from power for at least 30 seconds

turn the dial to spin but don't pull out

plug back in to power and open and shut completely so switch is engaged solidly 11 times in 15 seconds.

pull out knob to turn on

This should clear a error code.

hope it helps!
