Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

We have recently purchased a DVDR 5520H/DVDR 5570H recorder. When recprding a programme it is recording all but the final 5 minutes of that programme, ie for a 30 minute recording it records 25 minutes and then cuts off.

I can record a show manualy while its on & all is fine. When I try to schedule a recrding it records but I get a blank screen upon playback. What am I doing wrong? I have directv.

Unless the tv and dvdr are paired I.E. both the same make and compatible models, then you will have problems. try setting the timer on the dvdr for a programme but set the channel to av(scart connecter used) and set the timer on the tv to the same.
Please note that AV2 on the tv usually sends the programme to the dvdr.

Connections

I believe that you simply need a splitter from your cable line from the wall to the items that need it.

That will give you input to the DVD-R and to the Cable box.

Let me know if we need to discuss further, I will be glad to help!

Zoom H4 Battery Problem

I am having the same problem with my Zoom-H2. I have 2 2650 mah rechargeables, and the draw is such that 20-30 minutes of record &/or playback kills the batteries. Last night I just turned the power on and did nothing. 5 hours later the batteries were dead...

This isn't a solution. It is a reaffirmation that you aren't crazy!

I 'Finalized' the DVD but cannot play on another player

Does the machine record on to + or - DVDR?
If it does both try each type. Also try high quality discs, some of the cheaper types won't work. Try it on different speeds too.

DVR making bad DVDs

Three suggestions:
1) take it apart and clean the laser and the spindle 'hub' that the DVD rests on
OR
2) get a 'cleaner' disk that will 'whisk' any dust from the laser diode.
OR as a final suggestion
3) replace the DVD recorder with another. Plain old EIDE parallel interface units fit fine.
This is a very friendly machine in that it will accept PC compatible hard disks and DVDR drives.

I have a Philips Model DVDR 3505/37 recorder. I recently hooked up a RCA analog to digital converter to the TV and to the DVD. Now it will not record. No error messages. Just no recording. Thanks

The Philips DVDR 3505/37 has a built-in analog to Digital converter. No additional converter is needed. Just do the scan for over the air channels and set to go. Works fine now.

How long does it take to finalize? Can I finalize on other recorders?

The finalizing time depends on the remaining time on the DVD-R disc; Approximately 8 minutes to finalize with 20 minutes recording time on disc Approximately 3 minutes to finalize with 10 minutes recording time on disc Approximately 2 minutes to finalize with no recording time on disc. DVD-R discs recorded on the DVD-Camcorder cannot be finalized on other DVD-R Recorders or PCs.
