Will not turn on, but....

TV was working fine last night, but would not turn on this morning. Niether the remote or front button on the TV have any effect, no click, nothing. HOWEVER, if I unplug it and plug it back in, I hear the click/clunk and hmmm like it is turning on, but it never fully turns on the click/clunk lasts about 3 seconds and is gone. Unplug and repeat with same results. I did notice an arc when I plug it in....there is an imediate current draw when it is plugged in. There is a possibility that some water may have dripped in it. I am assuming it did and something is shorted. Is this likely to be an expensive or cheap fix? Just wondering if it is worth fixing.

The TV turned off ok at night then in the morning it wouldn't turn on. We unplugged it and tried again with no response. There is power to the outlet, so we know it isn't the problem.

Take the batteries out of the remote. Press all of the buttons. Put the batteries back in and try turning the tv on. This is what the repair guy had me to do. But after I got this problem fixed, the volume went to 0 then to 100 by itself and the tv won't go off.

TV was working fine at noon. Tried to turn it on a 5PM and after 3 seconds everything went dead - no response from remote or front panel turn on switch. Like there is no electricity, but the electric outlet IS working.

Hi yesterday I was watching a football game when suddenly my Sony Trinitron KV-28FQ75U started clicking couple of times and went off. Now, the TV is plugged in and there is stand by light present but when I try to switch it on either from remote or TV panel it just clicks once like it was about to switch on but instead it just returns to stand by light. The light does not flush. It keeps missing whenever I try to switch the tv on and after it clicks the stand by light comes back.Does anyone know what is going on??

i can not turn the power off by the remote or using the power button on the tv. the only thing that works is unplugging it and plugging it back in again, then it makes a noise and turns back on.

I have a toshiba 36af43 that I cannot get to turn on anymore. for the past month I would have to turn the surge protector off and on again to get the TV to respond when I turned it on via the front TV turn on/off button. Now it won't respond to the button pressing at all. I can hear power going to the TV when I use the reset on the surge protector, but I still can't get the tv to turn on. My Bose system that is plugged into the same surge protector works fine, so it is something with the TV. Any ideas? thank you!

The arc when you plug it in is from the degause cirt operating, the fault sounds like at least a pwr supply repair $100, & or vertical + $50,and or horizontal + $150,If water is the reason.

I had the exact same problem--TV not turning on at all. Before I threw the TV away, I opened it up and saw a blown fuse near the power cable connection.

I just replaced the tiny fuse in the same TV. It's a 250-Volt 5-Amps fuse. Make sure you get this exact fuse. Otherwise, it will blow again. Now, the TV's working fine.

Ws65909 powers off about 3 sec after power on

a code will always read 12-normal if you just plugged the tv in. it has to try to turn on then shut itself down to log a code. Or shutdown is caused by something the tv cannot detect . Or a front panel button has failed- does the green light turn on for a second when you hit the power button on the remote? if not try unplugging the front keypad behind the speaker cover.
