Welcome to FixYa!

The XML application in your computer might be corrupted which Yahoo Messenger uses to display the chat box properly. In most cases, it is the result of a virus/malware activity.

Here's what to do:
1. Download the Free Edition of Malware Bytes HERE.
2. Save the file.
3. Double click the downloaded file or if prompted to run the file, click yes to install Malware Bytes.
4. After installation. Launch or Open Malware Bytes. (Double click on the Malware Bytes icon on the desktop).
5.Click on the Update Tab and click on Check Updates (It will download the latest virus definitions)
6. After updating, click the Scanner Tab and do a Full Scan.
7. After scanning, click on View Results.
8. Then click on Remove Selected.

Note:
The Free Edition of Malware Bytes will not conflict your recent anti-virus software because it does not have real time protection features.

Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger again.

I hope that this will help.
Thank you for using FixYa and keep me posted.

Virus in my msn messenger

Please change the password of your msn messenger, and do not keep it on auto login.

Go to the below URL and download virus remover, run it and your msn virus will be removed.

I cannot install any application because of virus

Disable system restore

Delete system restore points

Download anti virus and anti spyware applications such as AVG, a squared, spybot search and destroy.

Install them if possible, if not install them in safe mode ( how to get into safe mode ) but making sure to go into safe mode with networking so that you are able to download the anti virus definition updates as well as the anti spyware definition updates and then run scans ( only one at a time ) and that should allow you to remove the viruses / spyware / malwares that are installed on your computer.

Once done I would also advise running an online anti virus scanner such as trend micro ( free website to run anti virus scanner )

If you get stuck post back and let me know.

My msn is not working

Probably virus or spyware problem.
Run scan for both and uninstall msn messenger and reboot then reinstall it.
Assuming your are talking about your messenger.

Run time error when i try to open up yahoo messsanger...

You need to uninstall and re install the yahoo messenger, If still not fix the error you need to scan your computer maybe your system infected by the spyware virus. Update your installed antivirus with capable to detect also the spyware virus. If need a free anti virus just download in the www.grisoft.com and also www.pctools.com there is free edition that you can download and update the virus data to detect the new virus and spyware.

Acer- messenger problems

Issues with MSN are not really your fault, as it is not software that you provided. It is possible that they have not configured their firewalls properly to allow MSN to pass, and some companies actively block messenger from passing, they should speak to their Network admin. I would ensure that they have up to date versions and that, any further issues they have they should take up with MSN support, and that they have sufficient Anti Virus and Spyware protection. I know it is difficult, but your responsibility for this lies with the hardware itself, (which as far as I can see there is no problem). The responsibility for software lies with the software manufacturer.
