My player is samsung p380.
it is not working.
only the powerlight(red light)is glowing.
can you suggest a solution
Does the unit operate with the remote? If not, then there is a good chance the switchmode power supply is faulty, mostly due to a short-circuit, hence the standby LED being the only sign of life.
It is either a protection circuit which is active, preventing the unit from operating, or simply no regulated output from the PSU.
Usually IC regulators in the PSU short-circuit, or suffer partial failures, resulting in the aforementioned symptoms. Electrolytic capacitors also cause major problems in this area. The trouble is, if you submit the player to a service centre/repair shop, it could be expensive and/or uneconomical, as the unit is not a DVD recorder, and you have to remember a workshop charges labour per hour on top of any part(s) they use. You can obtain a quote on the likely repair/part(s) cost(s), then make a decision afterwards as to whether it's worth going ahead or not. It is up to you.
As I have mentioned in previous postings, Samsung have a habit of using unusual rated/obscure valued ('specialised') components in their switchmode power supplies, making these very difficult to repair without some modification. Some of those components are not available to the public off the shelf, so this has to be done by a qualified technician in a fully equipped authorised appliance service workshop.
If you find that it is likely to cost you more than the retail price of a brand new unit, cancel the repair of this and buy a new one - but ONLY as a last resort when all else fails. New players are cheaper to buy (even Blu-Ray), while repairs on existing models become more expensive and parts become more difficult to obtain.
