Simply sound like you dont have 230v to the water heater or the hi-limit is tripped on the upper thermostat.Did you fill the heater before powering it up? If not it will burn out the elements. hope this helps..

Why does my sylvania electric fireplace Model S211 squeal

I had the same problem. If you remove the top row of screws on the backside of the unit, you'll see that the flame effect is created by a series of reflectors attached to a rod. Turning on the unit activates a motor that turns the rod. You'll see that the other end of the rod is just a loose end that is allowed to turn inside a plastic holder. Unfortunately, the rod rubbing against the plastic as it turns causes the annoying squealing sound. I solved the problem by wrapping a small amount of paper towel around the rod, pushing the PT into place inside that plastic rod-holder, and spraying it with a little bit of WD-40. I had to remove the entire back panel to get proper access. No more squealing noise (for now)! Time will tell if I need to reapply the WD-40.

I have a 1995 ES300 lexus and it overheats. I have already changed the water pump and thermostat, still nothing. I also don't have heat when it's cold outside. It use to pump heat within a minute...

The one basic thing that you may have overlooked is the radiator. It may very well be clogged and not circulating the coolant as it should. This would also cause the lack of heat. Try flushing it with Radiator Flush (Follow the directions on the bottle or can). When you flush it be sure to turn the heater ON, so the flush can work thru the heater core too.

A.O. smith model fpsh50 water heater has smelly water i know its the anode rod and it's on top of the tank but where and how to take it out

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Use this link to locate your EXACT model.
http://www.hotwater.com/resources/product-literature/parts-lists/
There are 6 different types of FPSH50
270, 271, 270E
235
236, 237
250, 251
251, 252
260, 261, 261E

Download the manual for your unit. The anode rod just unscrews CCW from the fitting on the body of the hot water heater.

I checked the 250, 251 model

Using 3 and 9 o'clock for the plumbing connections as a reference, the anode would be at the 6 o'clock position under the metal cap in the top.
The part number for your anode is in italic bold below.FPSH50 -250. -251

1 ......... Anode - Aluminum (.750" dia.) Standard Models.......... 43817-25 ................... 43817-25 ................. 43817-38

1 ......... Anode - Aluminum (.840" dia.) Optional ...................... 180618-29 ................. 180618-29 ............... 180618-35
1 ......... Anode - Magnesium (.840" dia.) Optional .................... 183463-29 ................. 183463-29 ............... 183463-38

Thanks for choosing Fixya,

My carrier model 38TH024300 a/c is not cooling. my a/c man said the coil is leaking. he wanted $2400 to replace the coil. $4700 to replace the coil & condenser. and $5700 to replace the gas heater/elec...

Depending on where you live, it did does sound very high. You could probably replace the whole unit for a new one for less money than the repair charges. However, before you do that, get a second opinion from another reputable HVAC company. But, don't tell them, you have already gotten one estimate.

Hope this helps. I'd love to know how it works out for you.

I'm using a calculation of VxA=W. Assuming your system is 240 volts and total amperage of system with 15 amps, I come up with 3600 watts or 3.2KW. Because the outdoor temp was above 35 deg F, the electric heaters probably did not cyle on to frequently if at all. Your calculation sounds reasonable to me. To determine exactly how many KW your system is using, you will need to determine exactly how many volts and amps your unit is running at...both indoor and outdoor units if this is a split system.
I've included a link to a website that helps the homeowner to determine the KWh.

I hope you found this helpful and good luck in your endeavor! :-)

Gas water heater keeps keeps lighting and shutting off has electric start its a 40 gal rudd model pvp40e

You did not mention if your water ever gets up to temperature or not. If this is happening more than once per hour, you have a bad thermostat (SP11652B or SP10886B or SP11652C or SP10886C all depends on year and gas type) and it will have to be replaced. It could also be a bad pressure/vacuum switch PN# SP11875. Try and tap on the side of the thermostat to see if it stops.
