Channels above 13 not availible and I don't have original remote.
I was given this t.v. and it shows the first 13 channels and the vcr plays. I was told that the t.v. needed to be "Programmed". I don't know what that means. I do have an "One for all" universical remote . I hope it will work.

This particular TV may have the same code as a Magnavox,Emerson, Funai ,or Zenith. You will have to look in the remote control manual for these codes. This TV was put together by other manufacturers. And in many cases they program these to their origin! Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
The TV should be on channel 2, 3, or 4 to work correctly. There might be a small switch on the back of the VCR that lets you select the channel that it wil play back on.
Also, look on the remote control for the VCR and see if there is a button labeled TV/Video, and press that while something is playing. This switches back and forth between the TV signal and the VCR signal and it could solve your problem.
No. sorry My friend, you have to use the original reomote. Theres a display button on this remote under the zero. Its available through http://www.remotes.com as a replacement original. You can also see if anybody you kinow has a emerson TV with a remote,as most will work most sets. If thats not the case see if someone local to you sells emerson TVs or repairs them, and has one you can borrow for you to take off the display.
