Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop
Not sure if this has been resolved or not. I had forgot to put the information at the end of this page in the Clarification Request. Plus there are some other things to try which I will mention here. Just curious as to what the OS is and how long the cam had been installed and if it works when you are not in an IM program. Make sure that you have the cam software/drivers updated, there may be a box for you to check mark in the properties section that will ask if you want to receive automatic updates, or you can search the web for your brand and model of cam, as well as Microsoft if you are running windows or the other if you are running another.Don't turn the cam on prior to signing into the IM and not untill you click the icon to start video cam, it should turn on automatically,
Also check your device manager to make sure the computer is recognizing the cam/device and that it is enabled. To do this in windows: left click/select > Start > then right click MY COMPUTER for the drop down menu > left click/select PROPERTIES >left click/select HARDWARE > left click/select DEVICE MANAGER > in the menu look for IMAGING DEVICES > left click/select the box next to it then > right click your device > left click/select PROPERTIES from the drop menu, then click/select general tab and see to make sure the device is enabled
Try lowering your security settings to medium. Can't have the cam on except only in the one application you want to use it, such as only yahoo IM or only in msn. What is your operating system. Make sure EVERYTHING is updated, drivers, programs such as Adobe Flash Player, you should get prompts for them but not all ways. I never could get a cam to work in AOL IM when it would work in other IM services so some things may not be compatible, but it should work at least in one. Some services may require you have your pop up blocker adjusted to allow pop ups from that site i.e., yahoo
